This is the full version of the print used for the Hawaiian Tee which I posted about here. The print was designed to cover the entire fabric width and repeat seamlessly, with the front and back pattern pieces to be placed on the left and right. The sleeve pieces would then be then be placed in the gap in the middle or above and below to avoid too much wastage.

There were so many technicalities to think about with this print that it took me at least a week, especially as I also had to get a composition which everyone was happy with. It almost gave me a mental breakdown but it was really satisfying to get to see something through, even though I wish I could’ve been there to see the first samples. I am glad that I made something which got put into production and got to see one of my own designs in a store, as for a while I doubted that would ever happen. Hopefully that’s something I’ll get to experience more in the future.

It’s difficult to see in the top image, especially with tumblr’s tendency to shrink images, but the design itself is pretty dense. As each element’s on a separate layer it ended up covering about fifty layers altogether. It’s also 140cm wide in its full size, just to give you an idea of the actual scale and why it was so time consuming.
