𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄  𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐒  𝐀𝐒  𝐀 𝐁𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑  𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑  𝐎𝐅  𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐘  𝐁𝐄𝐓𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐍  𝐖𝐇𝐎  𝐇𝐄  𝐂𝐀𝐍  𝐀𝐍𝐃  𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐎𝐓  𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐒𝐓.    as  quickly  as  assistance  comes,   it  is  extinguished  as  he  catches  her  wrist.    it’s feeble,  thoughts  streaming  in  and  out  of  focus          (    𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯  𝘸𝘢𝘴  𝘵𝘩𝘦  𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵  𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦  𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦  𝘵𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘥  𝘺𝘰𝘶 ?    )          breath  sways  heavily  in  the  caging  of  his  lungs,   ragged  and  unforgiving          (    𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴  𝘶𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 .    )          the  pain  echoes  through  muscle,  bone,  and  sinew,   splintering  until  he  willts  beneath  the  weight  of  its  carving.    HE  MEANS  TO  PUSH  HER  AWAY    —    he  knows  well  that  gentle  hands  can  hold  deceit,   as  deft  as  they  are.    the  world  is  vast  and  the  enemy  outnumbers  his  allies,   he  thinks,   but  does  not  find  the  will  to  refuse  her.    slowly,   with  weighted  gaze,   he  releases  her .

AND  SO  SILENCE  PREVAILS .

hushed  against  the  night - turned  chill,   he  remembers  what  it  is  to  feel.    𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒈  𝒂𝒏𝒅  𝒕𝒉𝒆  𝒅𝒓𝒊𝒇𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈  𝒔𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕  𝒐𝒇  𝒂𝒔𝒉.    the  knitting  of  ruptured  flesh.    the  darkness  about  her  diminishes,   undermined  by  the  soft  haze  of  kindness  in  her  eyes.    it  leaves  him  raw ,    key  to  a  door  he'd  abandoned  long  ago.    tension  grips  his  form  as  he  swallows  back  blood  and  bile    —    and  finally,  with  another  low  breath ,          ❝    thank  you .    ❞          trust  begins  to  bloom .
