Cat's Chimerical Creations Lore: Mister Poison Paws

This is Mister Poison Paws the Robin / Scorpion Centaur:

Although he does indeed have poison inside his paws, his name is something of a misnomer, as anyone poisoned to death with his paws can also be resurrected with a second stab.

He enjoys combing his bird parts in order to remain nice and smooth. He also enjoys bullying his daddy by pretending he's about to poison-stab him, but then actually smoothing his head feathers down.

He likes to hide, and is very afraid of the concept of having fans. (I suspect he just doesn't want Minty to start following him around in search of "fame"). He likes to keep everything a secret, to the point where his catchphrase is "ssshhh!" accompanied by a claw lifted to his beak, and his 2024 letter to Santa was completely obscured with a "top secret!" sticker.

(Santa seemed to understand what it said though. Similar to the situation with Dancing Feet, this is presumably a Santa thing)

He enjoys true crime, spooky stories, and warm weather. Although he's mostly content to go with the flow, he can occasionally react badly to disappointment. When he realised that the three week break where both his parents were home was coming to an end, he got so stressed out at the concept that he repeatedly tried to poison his own head.

Luckily he's immune to his own poison, and these days my partner and I trade off taking him to work with us every now and then, which seems to have helped.

I noticed in the tags of your ikea rat post that it said "bed & breakfast", is that your critter's name? because if so that's amazing and adorable but I love your lil rat friend either way

Cat's Chimerical Creations Lore: Nublet

This is Nublet the Walking Fish:

When he was very small, he was travelling with his mummy when they were caught in a flash flood. While Mumsivore managed to get Nublet onto a floating piece of driftwood, a huge wave struck before she was able to climb aboard herself and the two were swept away and seperated.

Nublet floated for many days and many nights, eventually washing ashore on a stony beach in the Isle of Man. He was hungry, cold, wet, and missing his mummy terribly. He gripped his back toes with his front paws, curled himself into a tight ball, and began to roll.

He rolled and he rolled and he rolled, and finally he bumped up against a plain white door with a peeling-paint doorstep, which is where we found him.

He arrived in November, just as our household was switching over from watching horror movies and getting cozy to celebrate Halloween, to watching horror movies and getting cozy to celebrate Christmas.

Nublet's big blue eyes drank in the twinkling lights and shimmering tinsel, the televised gore, the heaped mounds of plushie brothers and sisters crowding the back of the sofa and tumbling down to lay amidst the cushions.

He was invited to a sleepover by some of his brothers, but misunderstood when someone told him sleepovers weren't for sleeping and tried to stay awake forever. Luckily Chimble and Chomble, the two headed pigs that love nothing more than snoozing, were able to teach him their Sleeping Ways.

Minty the Minotaur, self-appointed Spookums King, explained horror movies and all things Spooky to him. Nublet decided he would be a Spookums King aswell, and after a brief moment of "woeing" over the loss of his power, Minty agreed this would be fine.

When January came and the Christmas decorations were packed away, Nublet became very upset. We gave him a piece of emotional support tinsel to tide him over until the season returned, which he held onto for a long time. These days it mostly stays inside Fattiyeti's suitcase, but Nublet does get it out occasionally when he's feeling bad.

We figured from his wings that Nublet would probably be able to fly once he got older, but were suprised to learn that he was also an airbender. When watching the Legend of Aang, Nublet casually mentioned "I can do that" and proceeded to airbend a few of his brothers off the couch.

Nublet enjoys being taken on trips to Spookums Places (even if he does have to stop Minty from putting "lies" in witch bottles every time they go to a churchyard together), cuddling with his brothers and wearing his Christmas hat at all times.

Cat's Chimerical Creations Lore: Little G

This is Little G the Gremlin Child:

Little G is a scrapbag baby, made from leftover pieces of three different Beanie Babies.

Little G is quiet, small, and kind. He loves to spend time with his big brother Fattiyeti, and enjoys playing games, earning trophies, and discussing boats (one day he would like to build and sail a boat too!)

He started coming out of himself a bit more as of February 2024, when he was a specifically named guest to his Daddy's birthday party (all the babies are automatically invited, but Little G tends to spend a lot of time packed away in the storage tubs so sometimes you have to be a little more direct if you want him to show up!)

For his Christmas letter to Santa last year, he made a lovely drawing of him with Fattiyeti, which Father Christmas greatly appreciated!

Little G is the quintessential little brother - just happy to be included, and always ready to join in with whatever activity his siblings are doing!

Sometimes my partner and I worry that he might be overshadowed by the more forceful personalities of the rest of the Bedtime Crew, so we try to take him out for one on one time every now and then.

His most recent trip was out the library and then to a pub for dinner with his Daddy, which he said was very exciting but also tiring!

But mostly, Little G is a homebody who loves to spend cozy times with his brothers and sisters!

Cat's Chimerical Creations Lore: Dancing Feet

This is Dancing Feet, the Catbird:

He's the youngest of the Bedtime Crew, being born on June 3rd 2024

He was directly inspired by Jerry the Accountant made by @leporellian - he was scooped up and adopted long before I made my move, but he lived in my heart for months afterwards so once I picked up a Scat beanie at the charity shop, I knew at least half of what he would become!

As far as we can tell, Dancing Feet doesn't vocalise - whether that's because he doesn't talk at all, or because he's so young he hasn't learned yet is unclear.

What he does do, as the name might suggest, is dance.

He'll dance to say good morning, he'll dance to say goodnight.

He'll dance on his brother's heads, or on their flanks, and sometimes, to their annoyance, on their faces.

He danced on Nublet's Christmas hat once, and when Nublet airbended him into the air, he danced on the sky instead.

He'll dance on the sofa, on the walls, on the pillows and blankets.

Sometimes he'll dance so long that he falls asleep midstep, and snooze right through the rest of us looking for him and calling his name.

We might find him tucked under the mattress or between the cushions, dead to the world, sleeping peacefully.

His letter to Santa last year was just inky pawprints followed by his name. Santa seemed to know what he'd written, though. I guess it's a Santa thing.

A villain once tried to curse Dancing Feet with that dancing-until-you-die disease. Dancing Feet didn't even realise it was a curse, simply dancing his usual dances until the disease burned itself out.
