Pluto’s
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Hope everyone is having a welcoming and safe holidays!
I left Davis on Tuesday to go back home for the holiday weekend. Before heading out, my family and I went downtown to grab lunch. We decided we were craving sandwiches, and went to Pluto’s.
As you walk in, the restaurant proudly presents their best sandwich award and a podium with menu pamphlets. Pluto’s is designed like a cafeteria, it’s organized by meal options. These stations include options like salad, meat, and veggies. After ordering, people grab their plate of food and pay before taking a seat.
In The Aggie, a local news media, they reported that
“For students craving classic salads and sandwiches in between classes, Pluto’s is the place to go...convenient for hungry students”
I definitely agree that it’s a convenient location for students as it is three blocks from campus. My only hesitation is if it’s truly worth ordering their sandwiches to go considering the more affordable options downtown. Ike’s sandwiches is across the street and has more sandwich options, and even prices a bit lower.
Atmosphere: I liked the layout, especially the division of meal choices and being able to see the food being prepared.
Flavor: The sandwich I had was really good. I’ve gotten a turkey sandwich before too and the meat they put in is always juicy and flavorful. My only disappointment was how soggy the tomatoes and greens got from the sauce and heat of the sandwich.
Affordability: As a college student, I don’t think I’ll be dishing out 9.50 before tax for a sandwich. I can make my own, or even get them on campus for nearly half the price.
