So after much hounding my CVS store finally got the Black Radiance line!!!

They're cosmetics designed solely for POC :D all the darker skin tone makeup: properly pigmented lipsticks, contour pallettes, concealer, foundation, lip gloss, powders, BB creme, the works! I'm so fucking happy to finally be able to help our customers with darker skin tones find makeup that fits them!

Background info: during the first month or so working for this company I had a customer with a very dark skin tone come to me asking for help finding a foundation or even a concealer that she could use. She told me that she struggled to find makeup for a reasonable price that she could actually wear.... So ofc I immediately started walking her around the cosmetics section trying to find her something that might maybe match.

I know it doesn't even compare but I'm very pale with a pink undertone and most cheap pale makeup is designed for people with a yellow undertone so I usually have to spend a solid $40 to get a foundation that doesn't make me look sickly so it really really upset me to find that we didn't even have anything CLOSE to her skintone. I mean our darkest shade was probably still 4-5 shades lighter than what she needed. She thanked me for trying and told me she didn't really have high hopes and while I know I don't control what the district lets us have I still felt immensely guilty for it. So I figured I'd try and get corporate to send us some darker shades ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I told our store manager (a very chill, liberal, very vocal lesbian with endless spunk and some serious empathy) about the interaction and asked if we could do something because I knew that it was something that she'd care about too.....and she did. She cared so much that she called and harassed corporate every damn month until, about a year later, they agreed to let us have some makeup that actually fucking reflected our diverse community!

I have never been more proud to work for someone as I am to work for that manager. She showed me that she actually cares about our customers 😭❤️ shes bought me food when I couldn't afford any, tried to buy my medicine when I couldn't afford it, she gave me time off during my first week on the job to spend with my dying Grandma, I've seen her comfort coworkers who were having anxiety attacks, and so so so many other things that shows she cares about her employees too.
