I'm still searching for the hidden messages within your bittersweet words
I sit by my balcony window pondering about a life saturated with wonder.
Admiring the gaze of night potent with curiosity & stars I lay under.
At peace with melodies inspired by the movement of comets.
I've melted into a series of thoughts
Intertwined in promise,
Ventured across the constellations
Of dreams.
Have I grasped the concept of 'I am' or
Am I victim to the whim of spiritual schemes.
I still ponder along the frames that
Hold me in.
A boundary of psychological freedom & what's deemed to be real, where do I begin?
Is it a sin to be in skin regarded as unworthy
By eyes that only see terror in a glimpse?
& the story is eluded by glory
Cause a page seems to reveal it all in a blink.
But Praise the day the true story is revealed
By lips that tasted the nectar of my painting.
Intimacy slips my fingers on a daily but those that remain have seen the fountain I'm confined in.
But today i discovered peace vividly by dialogue I release at my window
Embraced by the breeze with whispers
Of tomorrow.
It caresses my face and I uncloak an expression I borrowed.
A crooked smile laced with doubts that linger in my sweaty palms.
I'm in awe of the conflict I've survived & fluctuations of pain in good times.
But all cease as I sit by my balcony window pondering about a life saturated with wonder.
Admiring the gaze of night potent with curiosity & stars I lay under.
A sense of normalcy has accompanied me these days.
I’m mostly unfazed by the fact that you’re not around.
But when I hear a love song,
It is you who I think about.
It’s bothersome and hard to swallow to know that I was only a moment in your time. Like a cool breeze on a hot summer day. Of which I’m sure you never ponder on.
As for me, I could have given you the whole world if you asked.
The moon and the stars.

I ache to be a lot of things, and I’m none of them. But isn’t that the whole point - to cling on to the hopes of distant selves, far from flesh and bone, like sunsets at the door of darkness, flirting with the ends though there aren’t any.
"Arch" (sold) is my third painting for The 5x5 Project, now showing at Abend Gallery through 7/6. With this little series, I've been thinking about our place in the natural world. Here's a wonderful quote from Edward Abbey, which partly inspired this painting:
"A weird, lovely, fantastic object out of nature like the Delicate Arch has the curious ability to remind us--like rock and sunlight and wind and wilderness--that out there is a different world, older and greater and deeper by far than ours, a world which surrounds and sustains the little world of men as sea and sky surround and sustain a ship. For a little while we are again able to see, as a child sees, a world of marvels. For a few moments we discover that nothing can be taken for granted, for if this ring of stone is marvelous then all which shaped it is marvelous, and our journey here on earth, able to see and touch and hear in the midst of tangible and mysterious things-in-themselves, is the most strange and daring of all adventures."
