HI EVERYONE- Please take a moment to read this + help us out! I’m a peer facilitator with this space and we help lots of marginalized folks with mental health support & are grassroots funded. We need whatever you can comfortably spare to keep going into 2022! Here’s some info about Peer Support Space:
February 2022 marks Peer Support Space’s 3rd Birthday!
In honor of our Birthday we want to take a moment to celebrate all that has happened since we were born in 2019! We've cultivated a beautiful community of peers who care about one another, show up for each other in times of difficulty and celebrate with each other in times of abundance.Numbers can’t fully quantify the human experience and all that we’ve accomplished together, but they do give a snapshot of what we’ve been up to:
Since our foundation, we have had: 🎈2,343 communal gatherings, groups that have been attended cumulatively 14,198 times! 🎈We soft-launched our individual 1:1 support at the end of 2021 and there have since been 735 sessions! This year, we are poised to launch Central Florida’s very first Respite where people can stay overnight in our non-clinical setting, focus on their wellbeing, and be in community with others. It is a beautiful extension of the groups and individual support offerings that we actively have that will further bolster the care that is being offered to our community. WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We are so excited to continue to grow and expand our resources, but the need often overshadows funding. Currently, we MUST raise $5,000 dollars to ensure our current services can continue. Unlike big national nonprofits that receive ample funding and organizations with corporate sponsorships, we RELY on grassroots community giving and individual donations to keep all of our offerings available and accessible (no-cost) to those using them! We’ve had to cancel our annual in-person fundraiser multiple times due to COVID to prioritize the well-being of our (often immunocompromised, Disabled, vulnerable) community; this has always been the ethical choice, but it has impacted our ability to raise funds where we normally would have been able to.
We are a collective of peers with respective Disability, Madness, Mental Illness, Autism, Neurodivergence, Queer, Trans, and racialized idenitty, and hold various intersections of forcefully marginalized lived-experiences. All of our offerings are peer-led, no cost, and strive to create spaces for healing and connection where it is most vitally needed. Please contribute if you can and share this fundraiser far and wide - boosting visibility goes a long way!
Thank you, all - this is has truly been and will continue to be a community-led organization and we wouldn’t be here without the hard work and heart work of all of our chosen family, friends, and comrades. Thank you for all you’ve done and continue to do to - we love you!
