POKEDDEX YOUR CHOICE! VOL 2 - DAY 3 DRAGON TYPE: HAKAMO-O

I treated Hakamo-o pretty much like a juvenile Kommo-o. I didn't base my Kommo-o on any specific dinosaur but rather took bits and pieces from here and there. I wanted to keep the line consistent so I didn't do anything crazy, but while drawing this - especially after doing a month of dinosaur drawings - I think I could now push certain qualities in each design. I could make the head more ceratopsidae like (which I kind of consciously attempted here) and I now had a better sense of different proportions that theorpods can have so there is that as well. Other than that the plumage and scales of Hakamo-o aren't yet fully developed but you can see they're going to the right direction!

POKEDDEX YOUR CHOICE! VOL 2 - DAY 2 DARK TYPE: ZORUA

The second Pokémon you chose was Zorua for the Dark type category. I have drawn Zoroark before but back then I didn't really give the design much thought so there isn't much correlation between this and that design. I decided to think a bit outside of the box and do things differently. Zorua is often portrayed as a fox and its ability to transform into anything is possibly inspired by the kitsune from Japanese mythology. However, there is another creature in the Japanese mythology that fits the bill. The tanuki, or Japanese raccoon dog. It is said that if a kitsune has eight forms, a tanuki has nine. Tanuki are also described as more mischievous than the kitsune and something about that made me think that I should do a tanuki version of Zorua and see how that works. There are things about this design that I would do differently on the hindsight but since the piece is done and I have to draw one Pokémon every day I decided not to put any more time into it. I may return to the Zorua family at some point and work on them more later.

POKEDDEX YOUR CHOICE! VOL 2 - DAY 1 BUG TYPE: YANMEGA

The first Pokémon to be drawn was the Bug type of your choice, Yanmega! I really like this Pokémon, it's sad that it's so underrated. It could have really used a boost when mega evolutions were still thing - because Mega Yanmega would just sound funny and because it would have been cool to have a Bug/Dragon. Anyway, very straightforward design, based on various dragonflies, especially the prehistoric meganeura. Also with a dash of a green darter. Dragonflies are really cool and I had a blast drawing this one!
