Odd World
(More Jazzpunk/ Polyblank x Editor trash)
The bright, flashy colors always gave off the appearance that everything was perky, almost bedazzling. It in fact did not mean that. Polyblank laid on the floor next to the rooftop pool, trying not to roll right in and drown. He could hear the low chuckling from behind him as the footsteps grew closer. When he had arrived to the rooftop to infiltrate a small dinner party, Polyblank never expected that it would all just be a setup for The Editor to swoop in and shoot him with a tranquilizer. For a spy, he wasn’t very good and keeping his actions a secret.
“Well done Polyblank! You made it to almost twelve seconds before I brought you down! An improvement, I would say.” The Editor squatted down behind Polyblank, rolling him onto his back. The man stared up lazily at The Editor, trying to stay aware of what was happening.
“You know, my first idea was to taze you then put you in my human-liquefying hot tub, before I realized that i really enjoy these quiet moments with you.” Polyblank was fighting the sleepy feeling that was washing over him. He didn’t want to know what would happen to him if he blacked out near someone as dangerous as The Editor.
“Oh, Polyblank. I can see you’re fighting it. You really don’t have too. I won’t hurt you. Really.” Those were the last thing Polyblank heard before he blacked out.
“Blue really is his color, don’t you think?” Polyblank was starting to regain consciousness, and as he did so, he could see the scene that was playing out in front of him. He was in a secluded bedroom, with two women painting his fingernails. They had a strong grip on him, too. Then as if his awakening almost set off an alarm, The Editor swung open the door to the room, shooing away the two women.
“Off with you two! Go make yourselves useful and entertain those two idiots I call my henchmen. They’ll break something if you don’t watch them!” He told them as he forcefully shuffled them away. After locking the door shut, he came to sit besides Polyblank on the bed. He placed a hand on the half-awake man’s back.
“Polyblank, I’m dreadfully sorry about having to dart you. But you must admit, you aren’t always the best guest here. Last time you came, you sent my computer cat into a frenzy!” He chuckled lightly. Polyblank has still not sat upright yet, but had opted to just lay down on the bed.
“Look, Poly. I just wanted to have you over for a bit. My other henchmen and women can be so boring and loud. But you’re so quiet and sweet. Even the main antagonist needs some time with his spy rival.” He kept sliding his hind towards Polyblank’s head, ruffling his hair.
“Now, because I am oh-so kind and lovely, I will allow you to spend the night here. You may sleep on the couch if you would like.” The Editor said, trying to hide that what he really wanted was for Polyblank to spend the whole week there. But that would be overwhelming for someone as reserved as Polyblank. The other man looked around the bedroom, admiring the post-modern art decorating the bizarrely colored walls. He didn’t understand The Editor. One minute he;s ready to kill, almost crazy, and the next he’s calm and caring. It never added up. But there was something about The Editor that made him feel tense but calm. Maybe it was the weatherman-like hair, or the thick brimmed glasses he always wore. But for now, he would just have to live with these odd, odd feelings.
Romantic Feelings
(More BlankEdit trash. And yes, it’s for @the-mighty-sorceress becuase why not)
Summary: Polyblank starts to wonder if The Editor’s feelings are real for him
He could feel Editor staring at him from across the table. Polyblank tried his best to avoid looking at the neatly-dressed man across from him, but it was near impossible with Editor’s hand resting on his his. He could feel the tension in the dimly lit lounge. There weren’t any other people there, just the bartender who had opted to look away from the two other men.
“My my, Polyblank, you’ve been very quiet. I know you don’t love to converse with me, but I would love to have a conversation with you.” Poly looked up from his salad and met Editor’s gaze. He had his head resting on his free hand as he stared into Polyblank’s eyes. He was tempted to prompt him into another conversation, but knowing Polyblank, he wouldn’t start talking until he wasn’t afraid. He could still not understand why the poor spy wouldn’t speak to him unless he was forced to. Maybe it was just nerves.
“So, Poly dear, how has work been for you? I was told that your boss is having some issues controlling his appetite, no? Well, I guess being an alligator isn’t for everyone.” He mused gripping onto Poly’s hand a little tighter. Maybe he would pick up on the little hints Editor had been dropping.
“Poly, please speak to me. There’s nothing to be afraid of. It’s a simple question, really. Even you can answer it.”
“Oh um- yea. It’s strange having a boss that has a four foot long tail.” There it was. That quiet mutter that barely made his lips move. It was one of the most intriguing things about Polyblank.
“Normally I’d ask you to speak up so I can hear you, but I know you’re nervous about being here. I’ll let it slide for tonight.” Editor said as he nursed on his wine glass. It was true; he was growing impatient with Polyblank’s lack of compliance, but he suppressed the idea of forcing him to speak.
“I love what you’ve done with your nails, Poly. It’s quite boring to have normal nails for you, isn’t it?” His nails were painted a deep red. It suited him.
As the night went on, all was the same. Editor would take up a bulk of the speaking time, talking about his lavish life, while Polyblank would quietly nod along. But as time grew, Editor noticed Polyblank becoming less nervous. He would make eye contact for long periods of time and even spit out a few sentences. It may’ve just been the wine, but Editor was glad that the spy was finally starting to communicate with him. He also noticed that Polyblank no longer cared about Editor holding his hand. If this is what it would take to have a normal conversation, they would be here all night long. But if that’s what it would take to get Polyblank to be more open, then that’s what they had to do. So, Editor started to talk a bit more about his life.
“My two sharks, Flotsam and Jetsam miss you Polyblank. They really do. You need to stop by at some time my dear. It can get pretty boring at my place.”
“I guess so.”
They had both gotten up to leave the lounge as the bartender shut it down. They walked outside the resort, taking a stroll on the nearby beach. The sun was almost completely hidden by the ocean, but the last remaining beams of light glared of of Editor’s glasses.
“Poly, I’ve enjoyed tonight. It isn’t often I can sit down to a nice drink with someone I care about.” That put Polyblank on the edge. He knew that Editor was cunning and liked to trick people. But tonight was different. It seemed like he genuinely cared for Polyblank in a much more...Romantic way. He had to admit; it was nice having someone there. Not necessarily talking, but just having the presence of another person made him feel loved. But he was still suspicious of Editor. This could just be an elaborate set up to get him off his guard. But if it was, it had to be working.
