a rural or post-apocolyptic situation where whumpee gets shot and caretaker has to do immediate surgery to remove the bullet, but the only painkiller/anasthetic/disenfectant nearby is whiskey, which they use as both a topical and oral numbing agent. by the time it's done, whumpee is so drunk that they're giggly and nonsensical, and slightly amused caretaker has to keep being the responsible one and carry the intoxicated whumpee to bed.

‘Flower’s’ name turned out to be Safiya.

Safiya loved little Wispy as soon as she saw the tiny blue pup, and spent a cautious minute letting the pup smell her fingers, before snuggling her happily.

(Great. Another stupid human who likes the stupid monstrosity,) Alektor complained, entirely resigned to this eventuality, but no more pleased about it than he was when Vaen found Wispy days ago. (Clearly this is a friendship meant to be.)

“What’s her name?” Safiya signed, with Alektor providing a translation from the back of Vaen’s mind. He had been surprisingly willing to help with the communication issues, and Vaen sent a spark of gratitude to his elementari for it. “She’s adorable.”

“Wispy,” Vaen said, careful to speak slow and clear so that the woman could read his lips. “Willow-Wisp. She turns into mist, sometimes. And glows.”
