Remus: hey
Remus: are you still up?
Dated: 13 March, 1979 Location: Grand Staircase; Hogwarts @pterpettigrew
It was easy for Remus to forget things when he was with Peter. He would forget to quiet his laughter, forget to hold his tongue, forget revising in favor of a late night card game. Walking alongside the other wizard, the werewolf could sometimes even forget the pain shooting through the mending bones in his broken leg. It was late in the evening when the pair climbed one of the castle’s dozens of staircases, caught up in a conversation that had started as a debate on the practicality of keeping a chocolate frog as a pet and only continued to spiral from that point onwards. “I thought they were real— like the Monty Python sketch. Crunchy Frog.”
It was easy for Remus to forget things when he was with Peter and so it was a sinking feeling in his stomach that his foot didn’t land on stone but instead continued to fall through the vanishing step. “Shit—” The werewolf’s still mending leg bent at an odd angle beneath him, bandaged wounds sharply protesting the sudden movement.

Remus was silent as he made his way up the stone stairs, finally finished with his assignments for the weekend. The thought of having the remainder of the evening free left the werewolf feeling lighter, anticipating a quiet night catching up on some reading or maybe seeing if the guys were doing anything exciting. Thoughts lingering on a new record he had been wanting to check out, he was distracted as he hummed to himself, pushing open the door to the dormitory.
Raising his head, it took him a moment to register Peter standing alone in the room, a confused expression on his face. Shutting the door behind him, the werewolf hesitated for a moment, eyes shifting across the room before meeting the other man’s eyes.
“Is everything okay?” He finally asked, puzzlement evident in his voice.

Dated: 20 September, 1978 Location: Mermish Classroom; Hogwarts @pterpettigrew
Pushing through the doors to the classroom that morning with masked effort, Remus kept his head lowered as he entered the dimly lit room. He was late, and painfully aware of the eyes that had turned to face him as he made his way to an open seat in the back of the classroom. Fortunately for the werewolf, Dumbledore was not only the dean of the school but also the language professor for Mermish. The man met Remus’ eyes with a knowing smile and directed everyone’s attention back to the front of the room, where a bright projector displayed images of merpeople and their habitats.
Settling into his chair with a measure of relief, Remus set his notebook down on the table, doing his best to ignore the way his head was spinning, his breath uneven and labored. His complexion was pale, and he allowed his hair to fall in front of his face as he obligingly reached for his pen, the movement automatic. Belatedly, he finally registered the presence of the man at his side. Peter.
Swallowing the lump in the back of his throat, Remus shot the man a polite smile before turning his head back down to his notes.
