A forest fire in central Portugal has killed at least 62 people, most of the victims were caught in their vehicles on the road…

pray for portugal

it’s october and my country is being destroyed by flames. there were 300+ fires today, 120+ are active at the moment. i’m typing this at 23:30, meaning, 11:30pm. this is not okay nor normal. today when i went out ashes fell into my hair.

what is even less normal is the fact that we go through stuff like this every single year and no one gives a shit nor tries to help.

global warming is real and it is killing portugal little by little, fire by fire. and it makes me so sad.

PRAY for PORTUGAL

Its true Portugal is burning! The last 3 days were some of the worst days my country has seen! More than 500 fires started during weekend. It’s October and we deal with temperatures above 35°C. Reports predicted rain but I barely saw a drop during these days.

37 people dead, among them a 19 years old pregnant girl and a baby. 71 injured, 16 in critical state, some are firefighters from my city. Most of the country is in red alert. Even though the principal fires are starting to be control, hundreds of people lost their houses, their cars, their families, their jobs. Schools and roads are closed. It’s predicted that almost 226 thousands green hectares were consumed by flames! When I got out on Sunday I could barely breath because of the smoke and ashes. The sky was painted in red. And though firefighters controlled the fires close to my home, some of my relatives were surrounded by the fire. There were no communications and I was so scared! Thank God they are ok now but everything around their house burned. 4 months ago we deal with a equal tragedy caused by fire. Even after that we don’t have enough means to combat all the fires. I know that Spain is dealing with the same scenario. So I just ask people to spread the message and to pray for Portugal and Spain. We’re going to need everyone’s help!

Yesterday I thought I was going to die. All that fire, and people screaming, calling their loved ones to say goodbye...

Yet here I am. I was given a chance.. To love, to care, to do something. What? I have no idea, but something good I hope.
