Pride Masterlist 2021

Because it's pride month (June) I've decided I'm going to post social media au's in the order of the rainbow! So this is my masterpost.

- I've also completely changed my aesthetic for the month of pride! And it's making me want to be more rainbow more often so we'll see how long this lasts.

LGBT+ Definition Masterpost

*Know that all of the terms here are simplified to make them easier for people to understand, and the terms are not restricted to their definition.*

Sexualities:

Homosexual: Someone who is attracted to the same gender.

The terms Gay and Lesbian are more specific versions of homosexual. Gay is a man who is attracted to other men and Lesbian is a woman attracted to other women. (Gay is also commonly used as a general term for any sexuality other than heterosexual)

Bisexual: Someone who is attracted to both genders.

Pansexual: Someone who is attracted to all genders.

*Bisexual and Pansexual are basically the same thing, whichever the person wishes to identify as is up to them!*

Asexual: Someone who is not sexually attracted to others.

Aromantic: Someone who is not romantically attracted to others.

Demisexual: Someone who does not have sexual attraction unless a strong emotional connection has been formed with another person first.

Demiromantic: Someone who does not have romantic attraction unless a strong emotional connection has been formed with another person first.

*The terms Asexual, Aromantic, Demisexual, and Demiromantic can all be combined with other sexualities, and even each other!*

Genders:

*It is important to know that sex and gender are not the same thing. Sex is generally referring to what genitalia you were born with (or what it is surgically changed to), whereas gender is what you choose to present yourself as. Gender does not at all require someone to change their sex.*

Transgender: Someone who identifies as a gender different than the sex they were born as.

The terms mtf and ftm refer to the gender they were born as and their change to the opposite gender. Female to male (ftm) and male to female (mtf).

Non-binary: Someone who does not identify as either male or female. This is an umbrella term (which means it encompasses several other terms) for many other gender identities. (Non-binary is also included as transgender)

*Non-binary people generally use the terms they/them, but some use other terms! Please always ask for everyone's preferred pronouns, even if it seems obvious!*

Demiboy/Demigirl: Someone who's gender identity is somewhere between Non-binary and a boy/girl. (Their preferred pronouns are generally either they/them and either he/him or she/her, whichever they identify as. However again, always ask what pronouns they prefer!)

Agender: Someone who identifies as having no gender.

Genderfluid: Someone who does not identify as having a fixed gender. (For example, they could identify as a man one day and a woman the next.)

Bigender: Someone who identifies as two different genders.

Polygender: Someone who identifies as several different genders.

There are many, many more terms, but this is all I know off the top of my head. Please feel free to include more!
