ok last night i had a Thought and you know what that means!! yall are gonna have to hear that Thought. skgsjs ok so since im currently obsessed with ninjago and fire emblem three houses, ofc i had to compare the two a bit and i found this.
so the left is lloyd garmadon, and the right is dimitri fire emblem (because his name is unreasonably hard to spell no thanks) so what do they have in common?
well, theyre obviously both blond, but more than that, they have similar personalities what with the whole dorky endearing hair of gold, heart of gold thing but they have a darkness underneath. dimitri’s is more upfront in that he actually snaps at one point during the game, while lloyd’s inside darkness has only been implied so far with various lines. pls give lloyd a corruption arc the angst would be delicious. ANYWAYS. their other main similarity? a friendship/first love situation turned into hatred… i’ll talk about that below.
first we have peincess harumi, and on the right we have edelgard von hresvelg. they’re both really similar as well, being royalty that has secret plans and incredible ambition to carry out those plans
harumi wants to resurrect lord garmadon, and edelgard wants to tear down the church of seiros. they’re both pretty willing to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals, including harming innocents. their upfront personalites dont really match, though, as edelgard is cold and detached while harumi is much more outspokenly violent and emotional. but it stills works as a comparison. another thing worth noting, edelgard has white hair for plot reasons but im pretty sure harumi’s has always been white (?) so there isnt much there
SO as for the whole friendship/first love turn hatred, lloyd has harumi, who betrayed him and humiliated him, and dimitri has… edelgard! edelgard and him were childhood friends (but because of various spoiler reasons edel doesnt remember this) and also step siblings after a point. yeah so the first love thing seems kinda icky but sjsgsh dw dimitri and edelgard didnt know their parents got together. now lloyd has a thing for harumi and she pretends to have a thing for him too, but we know she doesnt, and thats how that one turns out. edelgard gets takenaway from dimitri after… i want to say a yearish? but idk. and thats why that one doesnt work out.
but anyway, edelgard accidentally causes dimitri to snap because he mistakenly believes she was responsible for his family’s murder (it makes sense in context) so tahts where the betrayel on that one comes in
the intersting thing to note is that edelgard doesnt really care about dimitri while harumi outright HATES lloyd, when dimitri is the one who despises edelgard. also, both lloyd and dimitri forgive harumi/edelgard only to get stabbed in the back by them. again.
edelgard and harumi both have aliases of their evil alter identities, and comparing to how dimitri and edelgard were secretly setp eiblings, harumi kinda declares garmadon her father making her and lloyd somewhat siblings i guess? idk it works man
SO YEAH THERES THE STUPID THOUGHT I HAD LAST NIGHT THAT MADE ME WRITE A WHOLE ANALYSIS COMPARING A SERIOUS, MATURE VIDEO GAME TO LEGO NINJAGO LOL
