Frigid Reads: The Lost City of Ys
Today, I'm going to take a look at the haunting and fascinating sunken City of Ys. The lost city of Celtic and Breton Folklore. From its origins in medieval France to its transformation through centuries of storytelling, the legend of Ys is a story of myth, legend, doomed princesses, magical queens, and struggling saints.
Princess Dahut
Princess Dahut of drowned city Ys.
In Breton legend Princess Dahut was a sorceress who lived extravagantly and possibly murdered her lovers.
As punishment for her role in the downfall of Ys she was turned into a sea morgen - a vengeful water spirit who could drown villages
Recently read The Daughters of Ys because I love that artist’s style and I’m a nerd for folklore.
I saw that the artist did a draw this in your style on their IG: Jo Rioux on Instagram.
