On Wednesday, January 31, 2018 Dutch celebrate the 80th birthday of former Queen Beatrix
Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix was admitted to Francis / Vlietland Hospital in Schiedam. The princess underwent a (right) knee replacement. Her surgery was performed by orthopedic surgeons Dr. M.J.M. Driessen and Dr. S. Breugem. Doctors have informed that the surgery was a success. The princess will remain in hospital for the next few days and will continue with her rehabilitation at home. Queen Máxima will be replacing the princess at the opening of the European congress on nursing care for the elderly in Rotterdam today.
