Lisa Frank x MORPHE Collab

Late last year Morphe did a collaboration with 90s/2000s stationary and apparel icon Lisa Frank to create an illuminating makeup collection.  This collaboration was received successfully selling out in stores and online almost as quickly as it was put up. Now in April of 2021 the collection is still part of the company’s inventory.  

Morphe has long been a brand that actively practices being cruelty free and with no questionable parent company association there is no gray area about their business ethics, including selling to Mainland China where testing on animals is actually a requirement. The materials used in manufacturing are gathered in a “cruelty free manner,” according to Cruelty-Free Kitty. One thing I do appreciate about their marketing is their use of palettes.  Palettes are more of an investment but are always more economical than buying individual colors when it comes to eye shadows, lip colors, blushes, or highlighters/contours.

Here I have the classic Morphe 35B palette reimagined through the eyes of Lisa Frank. The colors read familiar character names like Purrscilla (a shimmery cool light pink), Spotty and Dotty (vibrant shimmery light blue), and Zoomer and Zorbit (warmer light green) who are on the cover of this palette ($30 + S/H)!

I had exhausted all my known photographer contacts in the Orlando area after months of unsuccessful emailing. I was dying to do makeup for a fashion or editorial shoot after graduating makeup school and moving to Orlando, FL.

I finally decided to start searching for photographers in my area on Instagram with a professional direct messaging (DM) script and sent it out to over a dozen photographers. Finally I got a response, from a published fashion photographer nonetheless, asking for my portfolio.  

Little did I know that test shoot would result in this stunning photo, reminiscent of a women’s autumnal perfume advertisement.  The lighting at twilight complemented the warmth in model Brittani’s skin as well as in the red satin ribbon and avant-garde burnt orange satin necklace.
