ok so … ben’s comments were out of line and biphobic and the “invitation to break the world record” line was downright [eye emoji x1000], so im not trying to defend them at all, i just want to talk about it a little bit:
for one thing, a lot of people have said that ben’s actual issue is with pedro/peter being an inconsiderate flatmate and not with his promiscuity/bisexuality, but i’m not entirely sure about that? ben talks about p being inconsiderate for a bit and then says “what actually wanted to talk about is” and goes on to talk about p being bi and sleeping around (without rlly mentioning how it’s inconsiderate). which is ... interesting.
personally, if i had a friend who (previous to coming out) has never been that much of a “player” and who then came out as bisexual and started “sleeping around” as such, then i think i would be slightly concerned or at least wonder about it a bit. because i’d be worried that they were doing it bc they felt pressured to fit into a stereotype of the promiscuous bisexual, rather than just bc they wanted to (in which case cool im happy for them). and this is what im a lil worried abt with p, mainly bc he just doesn’t seem all that happy? (altho we’ve only seen him interact with ben so maybe he’s just done with ben. we will see.)
however, me having this concern is so different to ben having a similar one (which im not even sure he does?) since i am bi and know what it’s like whereas ben is straight. and even if that’s ben’s worry then he brought it up in entirely the wrong way and the wrong environment. im just curious as to whether there is more to ben’s fuck up than biphobia and slut shaming.

I think the thing with Joseph is that (I'm not sure how you were raised religiously but speaking from personal experience) what he did for/to Egypt was always framed in a light where it appeared he was helping them because the Pharaoh employed him.

Like this is the first time I'm hearing of any alternative view of Joseph (which doesn't surprise me), growing up he was one of my favorite OT figures.
Yeah, that particular pericope (Gen 47:13-26) tends to get suppressed when people talk about the life of Joseph, so I’m not actually mad at people who don’t realize he’s the worst character in the Bible (second-place goes to a certain Levite, but he loses points because the text doesn’t think he’s the best thing ever) so much as I get mad at the people who choose to present Joseph as a golden boy.
