Today's harvest and the last of this batch of tomato sauce. I'll probably do a couple more bushels of tomatoes. It really depends on how many I can get my hands on. I like to put up as many as possible. Then there are the ever-present eggs and Lucy gave a full pint of milk this morning. Yes I realize that container is not a pint but I wasn't about to pour it into a pint jar just for a picture. You'll just have to forgive me. I saved all of the skins and seeds from the tomatoes and I'm dehydrating them for tomato powder. I ended up with 11 cups worth and it filled my dehydrator. My goal is that nothing goes to waste. When they tell you to save for a rainy day it doesn't just mean money, and you absolutely should be saving for a rainy day because I promise you sooner or later it's going to rain. Tomato powder is like having shelf-stable resealable tomato paste and I use it in much the same way. My next project is going to be green beans so right now they're hanging out in my sink getting clean before I stuff them into jars too. Mom has requested more dilly beans so I'm making them. I don't tell my Mom no unless I have no choice. As far as I'm concerned she's a saint and she deserves anything I can give her. I'm pretty sure most everyone feels that way about their mother though. I've included a bonus shot of Sammy my best farmhand. He was looking at me as though I just told him to go milk the chickens. I'm not really sure why. That's all the excitement for today, I think I'm going to be a slug and cuddle with my air conditioner while I deal with those beans. Have a beautiful Thursday my friends, stay safe, stay well.
