6th Generation Gaming (1998-2013) Sony Playstation 2 (Ps2)

The Playstation 2 is a game console for home entertainment which was produced by Sony Computer Entertainment and it is the second console from the Playstation Franchise. (Playstation2.wikia, n.d.) The Playstation 2 was released on 4th March 2000. The slim version was released in September 2004 and it was discontinued on 28th December 2012. The Playstation 2 is the world's best selling console with 155 Million units sold. It was sold for the price of $299.99 which is equivalent to $411 in 2015.(Wikipedia, n.d.) "The Playstation 2's top selling game was GTA : San Andreas with around 20.8 million units sold and the second top selling game was GTA : Vice City with around 16.15 million units sold" (Giantbomb, n.d.). There were over 3800 games for this console. (Wikipedia, n.d.) The Playstation 2's competitors were Nintendo's Game cube , Microsoft Xbox and Sega Dreamcast. This console used a DVD-ROM which reads DVDs and CDs. The Playstation 2 was also able to read Playstation 1 disks and one can also play DVD movies and Audio CDs. This console was succeeded with the Sony Playstation 3. The Playstation 2 used the DualShock 2 as its controller. (Wikipedia, n.d.)

The Playstation 2 had many different accessories, these were:

The DualShock 2 , Multi-tap which is only supported by the first ps2 and not with the slim too. , The Eye-Toy, Control,  Ps2 Hard Disk Drive , Guitar Controller which was suitable for the Guitar Hero Games, Drum Controllers ,  The Logitech driving force GT which was suitable for the Gran Turismo Games , Dance pads which were suitable for games like "Street Dance" and "Dance Fest" ,microphones, Ps2 DVD Remote , memory card , normal keyboard and mouse, Headset etc..  I think that the Playstation 2 was also one of the best consoles in history and we started to see a huge improvement when it comes to graphics. It also had some of the best games that were considered ahead of its time, such as Grand Theft Auto games which are open-world games.
