When Sally awoke that morning, Jack was not in the bed as well. That was pretty normal, as the skeleton needed little sleep here and there. He was normally up and about when she stirred. Instead, curiously, lay Zero beside her instead (something which hadn’t happened before). He was asleep, but there was a note attached to the back of his collar:
Good Morning my Queen!
When you are awake and ready, please meet me in the sitting room downstairs!
Jack~
PS. In the case that Zero fell asleep, please draw your attention to my bedstand.
If she did so, she would see there was a small vase with nettles, thistles, a black rose and a daffodil, and a piece of paper in front of it with her name on it, in case she didn’t realise they were for her. Gotta give the guy some credit here people.
The Pumpkin Queen had gotten very much used to Jack waking up earlier than she did, sloooowly sitting up and stretching her arms with a yawn. A quick glance downward caused her to notice the ethereal canine, eyebrows raising. She read the note attached to his collar, feeling color rise to her cheeks as she gradually grinned. As instructed, she looked towards the bedstand and audibly gasped afterwards- eyes growing wide.
Soon enough, the ragdoll was on her feet as she walked towards the display, feeling a strong warmth in her chest. “Oh Jack,” she spoke audibly, raising her hands and running her fingers along the leaves and flowers in the vase. She wanted to pick it up and take it with her, but she wasn’t confident in her own strength for holding the flowers for as long as it took to get down the stairs... She’ll get it later.
Sally moved towards the staircase, taking a deep breath and then beginning to go down the stairs at a comfortable, yet fast pace. Regardless of how long it took, she would end up at the bottom with a nervous, flustered grin, breathing slowly. Then, she proceeded to wander towards and into the sitting room, feeling excitement grow inside of her.
