Animals can be lots of things. 1 thing we can learn from them is to give love. Give love to yourself, your family, your friends, your colleagues and even strangers. When I ask people who have lived for decades and grown into “their senior years,” a common statement is made. Love is what really matters. Through the thick and thin of it. No matter how much money they made, lost, pain they endured, etc. Having something/someone to love and also being loved is what they say is most important. You can extend a hand to lift someone up or you can use the same hand to push someone down. Both actions will be remembered. One will be met with disdain. Which will you do? I want my epithet to be: “he helped me.” As a team, we can make this. Individually we can’t Marriage is like a garden. The more you tend to it, the more beautiful it becomes. We’ve only been married for 3 years. We went to school together but didn’t see each other for 60 years. We both lost our spouses in 2013. We ran into each other at a school reunion and started talking and then walking together. After losing my wife, I was ready to die. She made me realize that I still had some life left in me. In this world of give and take, there are too few willing to give what it takes. I don’t want my life to be a waste. Do you want to be turned into dirt without doing anything with your life? Do you really want to be used on this Earth? Prepare yourself in every way and God will use you. Prepare yourself spiritually, physically and mentally and God will have to use you. That set me free! For the first time in my life, I wasn’t trying to go get something. Instead, I made sure that my heart, mind and body were right. Today's big event made me want to share something different. The #eclipse made all of us come together and engage as a community to witness a cosmic spectacle. It made a lot of us forget about ourselves, the chaos going on in the United States and the world and take time out of our day to look up at the sky. All over, we as a band of people gazed up at something taking place before our very eyes that some may never see in an entire lifetime. Any of us who were able to enjoy the moment of this event, should feel fortunate. We are all on a floating sphere in outer space and take so much for granted don't we? We worry about things that don't truly matter and so many of us waste our precious time on this Earth pursuing the wrong things. I'm not here to judge. The #purpose of #purposeband is to band together and help one another uncover our true identity, articulate our wants, desires and true purpose and then create plans as well as continue to push and hold each other accountable to live our purpose out and not waste our lives building a bigger prison cell with "nice" material objects.
