CRA is fun but the pacing is a little slow for my tastes.
The story is unrealistic like all Rom-Coms (basically a Cinderella Story).
After all, “Pretty Woman” was about a prostitute who finds love with a rich businessman.
At times the movie seems like promoting tourism to Singapore (and the modern city looks terrific).
I understand some people have complained the casts isn’t Asian enough or isn’t Chinese enough, or some of the Asian actors aren’t married to or dating other Asians.
I understand the root of these feelings, as a Mexican American it bugs me when non-Hispanic actors play Mexican characters.
But I’d much rather Benicia Del Toro (who is Puerto Rican) play a Mexican in “Siccaro” than Jack Black (who is Jewish) played a Mexican in “Nacho Libre”.
But requiring racial purity in casting a movie is a dangerous idea to propose.
It was great seeing Michelle Yeoh - definitely an actress we should see more of.
