First impression

Wait, she sounds familiar…She’s kind of cool, too, but seriously, where do I know that voice from?

I do feel sorry for her, but I also hope that she finally learns to accept that she can’t blame everyone else for the bad things that happen to her sooner rather than later. Very worried about her, but definitely still hopeful about where she’s gonna ultimately end up. 

Favorite moment

It’s still gotta be her taking down Shadow Weaver. At this point, I don’t know if anything is going to top that moment for me as far as stuff involving Catra as a focal point of the scene goes. 

Idea for a story

An AU where when she’s kidnapped from her home, she’s rescued by a scouting party led by King Micah, and brought back to Bright Moon where she’s eventually adopted by Micah and Angella, raised alongside Glimmer as a Princess of Bright Moon and eventually part of the Rebellion and Princess Alliance. 

Unpopular opinion

Not sure how unpopular it is, but I am actually glad that her redemption is taking a fair amount of time. I feel like with how the story has been going since basically the end of episode 3, and especially how Catra’s character arc has been progressing since the events of “Promise”, having her actually get a redemption arc before this point would have felt like too quick of a turn-around. Something has to happen to completely make her see that she is not blameless in how her life turned out, and I don’t think she’s gotten that just yet. 

Favorite relationship

Her and Adora is probably the most obvious one, but considering the two of them haven’t really interacted outside of a few fights since the end of Season One, with the exception of the finale of Season 3, I actually think I’ll go with her and Scorpia here. Their dynamic is really interesting, even if it’s also obviously incredibly heartbreaking from Scorpia’s perspective. 

Favorite headcanon

She is actually a very good singer, but almost no one knows about it because she refuses to sing when she has any suspcion that someone might be listening to her. Not to mention that sort of thing was not exactly encouraged in the Horde - if you had time to sing, you have time to train or at least do something useful.

Catra

Favorite thing about them: The fact that she is a very, very determined person who knows how to get what she wants/needs out of a situation. Not always a fan of how she goes along with getting those things, but you gotta admire that tenacity. 

Least favorite thing about them: The fact that she’s just completely unwlling to take responsibility for her own actions when they end up making things worse for her. 

Favorite Line: Literally her whole speech leading up to when she takes down Shadow Weaver in the episode “Light Hope”. It’s gonna be a long, long time before anything beats that speech for me, in terms of great lines from Catra. 

brOTP: I love her friendship with Scorpia to death. I seriously hope that once Catra gets her redemption arc, the two of them are able to just be friends without anything getting in the way from either side of the relationship. 

OTP: Catradora, for sure. Actually, Adora is the only character I really ship Catra with romantically, even as just a one-sided thing on her part. 

nOTP: If I’m being perfectly honest, probably Glitra. Never been a fan of that kind of dynamic and never will be. 

Random headcanon: She actually took a fairly long time to learn how to walk, which led some to think she had some sort of developmental delay, because they were comparing her to more humanoid children. In reality, infants of her species crawl/walk on all fours until they’re at least two, so from a Magicat’s perspective, Catra actually started walking on two legs very young, just shy of a year and a half old.

 Unpopular opinion: Well, from what I’ve seen in a lot of fanworks, I think just the fact that I can’t really see her being interested in a romantic relationship with anyone but Adora is an unpopular opinion? I can see other people being attracted to her, but I can’t really see her ever returning another person’s affections in that way, unless it’s Adora. 

Song I associate with them: Honestly, now that I’ve heard it, I just cannot help but think of the song “Other Friends” from the Steven Universe movie when I’m thinking of Catra. I don’t even know if it fits, but that’s how my brain is working.

So how for have you gotten sanders sides since that last time we talked? Oh, and what do you think of it!

I still haven’t gotten around to watching more yet - my brain kinda...jumps around a lot when it comes to what it wants me to read or watch or listen to from moment to moment. I’ve been trying to rewatch She-Ra (on episode 9 right now), and watch more of Sanders Sides, but whenever I go to watch either of those, it’s like my brain is just going “Hey, you’ve got some episode of Law & Order, watch those now” and it keeps winning. Doesn’t help that I’m sick, so my brain’s even more mixed up because I’m tired, even when I don’t have work.

The last episode I watched was the New Years one, and I really liked it, especially the song. Gonna try to watch a couple more episodes tonight if I can.

“If you could transform into any animal/magical creature, what would it be, and why?”

If magical creatures are included, then probably a dragon. Mostly because I genuinely just think dragons are incredibly cool, and have ever since I was a young child. A lot of my favorite pieces of media growing up involved dragons as major parts of the story (to give you an idea of how much I was into dragons, I’m one of the few people who openly admits to liking the Eragon movie, despite it’s flaws), and I even wrote a report on dragons for my Children’s Lit class in college. 

Plus, you know, the ability to fly and breathe fire are major bonuses, so that adds to the lists of why being able to transform into a dragon would be pretty much the coolest thing ever.
