Bharata Vedamuga from Pournami (Telugu, 2006)
Dhada (2011)
Okay so, thodi himmat karke I watched bits of yesterday’s and today’s episodes of Ishqbaaaz.
The weird thing that the scene was pretty long, extending over two epis., and yet it felt rushed for some reason. I think I was much more scared for Gauri during the Gauri-KT episodes in DBO. Most probably the reason is that Rahul Dev is a brilliant actor, and menace dripping from his voice (as Kali Thakur) was enough to give me goosebumps.
On a performance note, I think during the KT-Gauri scenes, Rahul sir and Shrenu shared an electrifying villain-hero chemistry. Both of them deserve equal praise for their performance in the Bareilly track.
In these two episodes, the burden of the performance was heavily on Shrenu’s shoulders. The actor (I dunno what his name is, though he looks familiar) they roped in to play the superstar was creepy, but I dunno, either it was the direction or something missing in his acting, that everything depended heavily on Shrenu’s acting. And Shrenu did not disappoint.
This is the same issue I had with Daksh v/s Veer. Daksh, was played perfect to a T, by Karan Khanna. Karan’s acting gave me chills, and he had immense screen presence as the psychotic lover Daksh. I could never take Veer seriously because Nikitin Dheer was such a blah actor. That’s why I stopped watching IB around December. Matlab Veer is supposed to be more scary because of his height/weight. His scenes with Anika should have been more impactful. But the writing combined with the tepid acting, made Veer a huge flop for me.
Just shows how much the production values and overall quality of IB has fallen. Ek zamaane we had villains like Daksh and Kali (the only 2 villains I took seriously, I love Svetty, but she is LOLZ in many ways). And now its just pathetic.
The burden on Shrenu (and Surbhi) to elevate the scenes with their performance alone must have been significant. On top of that, the direction has been in a rut since December last year. Dunno which amateur directors are directing the scenes these days. I remember Atif had directed that scene of Kali Thakur feeling up Gauri’s feet when he chained her. I almost got sick on my laptop because the cringe was too much. (I miss Atif, best director from the IB crew, he could elevate a simple C grade scene to an A+)
Anyways, I have some thoughts about these episodes, but I’ll wait for the track to get over before I write something. I'm happy seeing all the praise for Shrenu's acting, and Gauri's courage, but in the back of my head ‘DBO Gauri was a queen’ keeps playing. More on that later.
P.S. Also, fans blaming Omkara for not ‘sensing’ Gauri is in danger, like Shivaay senses Annika is in danger, well, what to do, the CVs have only given 1 Obro spidey-awareness powers. Unfortunately Omkara is a normal human being unlike his super-hero bhaiyaa.
★ Bigg Boss 10 contestant Rahul Dev: Salman Khan helped me bag Anil Kapoor film Mubarakan!
February 7, 2017
Superstar Salman Khan made his fondness for Rahul Dev on Bigg Boss 10 quite apparent and even said he would like to work with him after the show. After Rahul got evicted from the show, he was soon snapped at Salman’s big birthday bash in December, along with girlfriend and model Mugdha Godse too. But while there is some time for Rahul and Salman to collaborate, the Sultan actor approached the makers of Anil Kapoor-starrer Mubarakan to sign Rahul for a role in the film.
Rahul, whose Bollywood career has been at the back burner for many years now, is more than excited about beginning a second innings in Hindi films. In an interview with indianexpress.com, Rahul spoke about the boost his acting career has got with Mubarakan and his upcoming TV show, Dil Bole Oberoi. “God has been kind. I was sceptical about doing Bigg Boss but it was good, the show’s host supported me, he said on national TV that we should work together in the future. I have got Mubarakan, after he put in a word about me to the makers. I will soon be off to London to shoot for the film. It is a beautiful role. Also, I am doing my first fiction show. So, things are looking up for me. I am very excited,” Rahul said.
