What are you working on right now?
“You all right?” Neyo asks, faintly wary as he watches Ponds out of the corner of his eye. “You seem.” He stops, clearly fighting with descriptions for a moment before he settles on, “Distracted.”
Ponds has twelve detailed plans for murdering another commander, and twenty-seven that still need the kinks worked out. He’s been working at them all night. “I'm fine,” is what he says, though, because outright saying I want to murder Wolffe to defend the general’s honor will probably get him a sideways look. “Didn’t sleep well last night, that’s all.”
Neyo raises a brow. “Even though the general is back?” he asks. “He’s safe with the 91st now.” Pauses, and then says, with an edge to the words, “And not married now.”
Before Ponds can answer, a door down the hall ahead of them hisses open. The right door, and Ponds’s heart jumps. He finds he’s smiling without even meaning to, and even Neyo's usual scowl has lightened into something like relief as he steps forward—
It’s not Mace who exits Mace's bedroom, though. It’s Wolffe, still settling his kama around his hips, vambraces and gauntlets in hand, helmet under one arm. His hair is too short to be messy, but Ponds is absolutely convinced it looks ruffled, like he was just recently asleep and hasn’t fixed it yet.
The hiss of Neyo's indrawn breath is roughly the same as the warning growl of a particularly angry krayt dragon, and a hand clamps shut around Ponds’s vambrace, so tight Ponds can feel it through the plastoid.
And then, worse, so much worse but also better, Mace steps into the doorway, clad in a loose white sleeping shirt with a wide collar. It dips bellow his sharp collarbones, shows part of his chest, makes his lean and dangerous figure into something captivating, breathtaking. That’s the best part. Mace could never be anything else.
But Mace is in sleeping clothes and Wolffe is just putting his armor on, and they were both in Mace's bedroom after working late together. Ponds is going to throw something. Something sharp, preferably right at Wolffe’s head.
“Thank you, Wolffe,” Mace says, and Wolffe snorts, steps in. He crowds Mace up against the doorframe, right where anyone could see. Right where Ponds and Neyo can see. Doesn’t go in for a kiss, but tugs Mace's head down, one traitorous hand curled around the back of Mace's neck like he has no kriffing idea that Ponds is about to cut it off and feed it to him.
I’ve associate this song with Cherry for so long. I’ve probably posted this before but you get it again
