“In early pre-production, franchise creator George Lucas proposed placing the Sith Lord's dark personal redoubt amidst an ocean of lava, leading McQuarrie to create a series of sketches depicting such a structure as well as additional sketches set on a Hoth-like ice planet. While Vader's castle ultimately went unseen in the original trilogy, it later appeared on the volcanic planet of Mustafar in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.”
