Location #9 - Rama's Fiji Indian Restaurant, Pearce For a tiny restaurant located in the suburbs, this place has certainly managed to make a name for itself. Having heard about it through word-of-mouth from various sources, I thought it'd be worth finally checking out. I hadn't covered Indian or Fijian cuisines in my project yet, so with this location I hoped to tackle both in one go. My first attempt was on a Wednesday night. I showed up at opening time - 6pm - to ask if I could photograph the place. They told me to wait 30 minutes until the manager arrived, so I wondered off for a while. When I returned at 6:30 the place was packed!! Minnie, the lovely lady who runs the place, was keen for me to take photos, but every table was booked out that night, so we arranged for me to come in the following Thursday. So with a table booked and my trusty camera in hand I prepared to tackle the busy restaurant. Though it was a bit cramped due to the crowds, and people were constantly flowing in to pick up takeaways, I still managed to get a few quick shots of the space before it filled out entirely. The decor itself is minimal but vibrant, and so is the food! They manage to turn a simple curry and rice into something phenomenal. Honestly I've never had a Chicken Korma (or any curry for that matter) as good as this one. The chicken melted away and the sauce was so creamy and sweet I could drink it! I also got a serve of saffron rice, cooked and coloured to perfection, and a roti bread. They also gave me a complimentary papadum with mint yogurt sauce while I waited. It didn't look like anyone else got this little bonus (the perks of being a uni student), but the service seemed equally attentive and lovely for everyone. You could tell most of the diners were regulars. Minnie knew many of them by name, and made sure to check on almost everyone personally. I was lucky enough to get a lovely photo of her before I left. Normally I'm not a fan of smiling photos, but she has such a vibrant personality and an energy about her it just seemed right. To top off this great dining experience, Minnie knocked off about $10 from the bill! I made sure to get an email address so I can send them some of the photos. They were so kind to me it's the least I can do. Now everyone, go eat there! You won't regret it!
