Called a Hero in a Singularity
Is there anything worse than being a hero in a world that doesn’t even know it needed you? Reese doesn’t know the answer and shes sure that none of the servants know the answer either. Their stories and myths have long since been set in stone. Some for centuries and sometimes, she peers between her lashes at a certain golden archer, millennia. It hadn’t been the first time she had been called a hero, hell, even some of her own servants had said it.
It was hard to be called a hero...and not believe it. Would it have been better if she, herself, the only remaining Master of Chaldea believed it? She always wondered if someone else would be a better one. Perhaps they wouldn’t doubt themselves as much. Perhaps their legs would stay steady, their hands would be relaxed, and their breath wouldn’t come out in gasps when faced with a veritable mountain of enemies.
She wasn’t sure if she was taking the right path, she wasn’t sure if she was doing the right things but...and hand pressed against her shoulder and she turned her face to meet the eyes of the one who had been by her side from the start.
“Ready...Master?” Purple eyes crinkled at the corners and Reese’s own did as well as she stood and stretched before taking the steadying hand.
She wasn’t alone. She would see this through...to the end.
