It's always a little funny to me how people decide how many of PJ's tattoos to give his characters.
Because like, Eddie has none of them. Eddie thinks cashews are going to kill him. Eddie thought you could get AIDS from touching a subway pole with a hang nail. Eddie isn't getting a tattoo, unless he gets one in a fit of rebellion post Chapter 2. This is why he's in full sleeves for the whole movie while everyone else gets to at least push them up to their elbows.
But Ray, for instance is more ambiguous.
On the one hand, he's based on a real person. Brad has that ridiculous back piece in the show because Real Brad has it. I don't know what, if any, tattoos Real Ray has, but they don't put in an appearance.
But then, we've all kind of let it slide that PJ and Real Ray look about as little like each other as it's possible for two white dudes of a similar age and height to look. No one is overly worried about accuracy in any element of Ray's appearance.
So we're left with the ones that do appear onscreen. Ray's never shirtless or out of full length trousers and boots, but is in a t-shirt a couple of times, so anything from mid bicep down is pretty canon to the show. I just then find it interesting whether people also give him PJ's radio tower, or the bird and branch on his other shoulder, or, most iconic, 'no dice' and the chest stars...
