why eda’s requiem?
the new episode got me thinking - if it was raine’s rhapsody, why change it to eda’s requiem?
a rhapsody is a piece of music, one that inspires ecstatic feeling. so, raine’s rhapsody is something eda wrote for raine, raine who inspires that much happiness.
or, eda’s love for raine.
but eda renames it her requiem, now that they’re older. a requiem is associated with the death of someone, a mourning piece. eda’s mourning herself - why?
because she isn’t who she used to be.
when she knew raine, she was most likely not affected by the curse much. she was in love with raine, she was happy, she had her magic. where she says it in the episode, she could be thinking she doesn’t love them anymore - but we know that to be untrue.
she’s mourning the person she was.
because everything is different now. she can’t play the rhapsody without her magic messing with it. she hasn’t seen raine in forever, and now they’re head of the coven. at that point, eda thinks king doesn’t care for her, that luz just wants to go home and leave her. that her family is abandoning her.
she isn’t the eda she was. she isn’t needed anymore.
it’s a requiem to who she was when she mattered.
