Just daydreaming about TBEA… They’re a fanciful kingdom, but Anything-Disney does vet their rogues/antiheroes. Aladdin, Iago, Kovu, Kuzco, Stitch, Elsa at least makes a weak objection to Hans but then focuses on her own issues, Eric was a villain as far as Triton was concerned until he helped save them, & same with Kida’s father and Milo…
Strangely enough, I actually think the plot -concerning subverting the ruling dynasties- of Lion King 2 is better than Frozen (again, in focusing on throne games). Zira’s plan was so much more solid than Hans’s. She had her lionnesses’ fighting power to back it up. Hans was about as well supplied as Theon Greyjoy. She spent Kovu’s entire life perfecting her plot. She lost her other son, but she would have succeeded if not for Kovu growing a will of his own & having a change of heart. Hans slipped up - whether he did, or his writers did, but come on, a dtv sequel beat you, & they can’t admit dtv writers did better than wdas.
Let’s face it, Simba is a terrible king, but he was rightfully suspicious of Kovu. In fact he guessed the whole plot, but was just perfectly, gently, manipulated away from his initially correct perception. Then, Simba even thoroughly vets Kovu, and decides his new position -which is also correct by then because Kovu has changed- is that he can be trusted. There’s a lot of problems in LK2 & all of Simba’s rule, but he does get an A+ in vetting Kovu. Elsa spots a threat, basically says nothing, then runs away.
(I haven’t checked crew, but I do assume it’s all different people, but still…) My point is that I have faith, trust, & -confidence, that Eugene will be sufficiently vetted. And that takes time, whether big enough events speed it to 1 year, or it takes 3. Al+Jaz had to wait 4 years (seemed longer… I was little.) & literally had their song say, “We’re FINALLY getting married!” But, hey, more angst, the better, right?!
