Hoseok was going to have a coronary.
You had ventured outside because it was a beautiful day and waiting for him to get home in the evening was making time pass so slowly that you decided to explore the area, just a tiny bit!
You were lost.
And quite possibly concussed.
This didn't look like your home cavern, but there were dragon tracks that looked like the right size for Hobi's.
And there was a dragon hiding in the shadows of the ceiling.
Could be Hobi pouting because you weren't home when he got back?

You yelp once again as you cower further into your closet. The thunder claps outside scaring you and causing you to curl up into yourself. Hands moving up to cover up the ears on the side of your head as the fuzzy ones on top pressed close to your skull. A small whimper leaves you as your tears start to roll down your face. Eyes screwed tightly shut as you try to block out the loud noises and rumbling.
You jump when you feel a hand touch your shoulder. Your head snapping over to the now opened closet door. You see a silhouette of one of the males in the doorway. A flash of lightning reveals the gray canine ears of the eldest and his features in front of you. The thunder a few seconds later makes you launch yourself into him. Your arms wrap around him and your face hides in his neck.
He stumbles back at the sudden weight from you now in his arms but holds you to him. Gently rubbing your back and trying to soothe you with soft whispers and words. Each new thunderclap causes you to get more and more worked up. The wolf easily feels the way your body tenses up and how you shake in his grasp.
Due to the fear and anxiety running through you, you don’t notice when Jin begins to carry you away from the room. Taking you down to the rest of the more nocturnal hybrids. The eldest had pulled the others into the living room to help distract them from the storm outside.
Jungkook and Taehyung were both cuddled up together with a movie going to try and muffle the booms outside. A makeshift nest made from every blanket and pillow they could get their hands on filled the space around them. The older of the two jumping at each new rumble and hiding further into the ferret and the blanket that’s making a hood over their heads. Jin sits down next to them with you in his lap. Jungkook looks up when he sees the wolf rejoining them and hands the two of you one of the fluffy blankets that were surrounding the group.
You feel the warmth and softness of the blanket brush against your arms as Jin focuses on covering you up further. The familiar fabric cutting through the adrenaline to make you relax ever so slightly. The booms of thunder slowly fading as the storm moves farther away and dissolves into just rain. Your body finally relaxes as the credits of the next movie rolls.
You become nearly boneless and lean fully into Jin as your body finally exits fight or flight mode. Your mind is fighting off the sleep that your body is so desperately trying to cling to after the storm.
Taehyung is the first to see that you finally fell asleep when Jin’s head rolls to rest on his shoulder. Nudging the youngest to grab his attention and gesturing towards you with his head. A fond smile finding its way onto his lips.
Jin was holding you close to his chest like he was protecting you from the world and anything that could hurt you. You in turn were curled into a small ball in the wolf’s lap. Seemingly trying to hide from the world. In an effort to make everyone more comfortable, Jungkook and Taehyung work to carefully lay you and Jin down with them curling around.
------
That’s how Hobi finds you in the morning. The human waking early like he normally did on days that he was teaching classes. A coffee in his hand as he looks on at the scene. The rain hitting against the glass wall that leads out to the backyard.
Somehow in the course of the night, you had turned around in Jin's arms. His arms locked around your waist and face hidden in your hair. Taehyung clinging tightly to your back as Jungkook splayed out next to you three with a pillow held to his chest. Soft snores leaving the ferret.
Hoseok places his mug down on the nearby coffee table and moves forward towards the mass of blankets and bodies. Stepping around the blankets and pillows strewn about to get to someone to wake up first. The human goes between each hybrid to gently wake them up.
Jin is the easiest to wake from the group. The wolf only gives a mild grunt of discontent before he’s trying to pull away from you. You on the other hand whine loudly at the warmth of the eldest leaving you. A large pout on your face and your eyes barely opening. You’re distracted by the red panda on your back groaning softly and pulling you closer. Your still half asleep mind turning towards him and tucking yourself under his chin. His leg being thrown across your middle to keep you even closer.
It's only when the rest of the house finally wakes up that you and Taehyung do. Even with the soft complaints coming from the red panda, you finally decide to get up. Your body aching from sleeping on the floor but you’re happy to see the others. Your tail flicks behind you as you move towards Jimin as he sits at the kitchen island. You rest your head on his shoulder as your arms snake around his middle. Your fellow fennec fox chattering happily at the affection as he rests his arms on top of yours.
You try to follow the conversations that were between everyone but ultimately give up. Choosing to watch Yoongi and Jin as they cook for the group. Hoseok helps with different tasks that the others ask him to do while Namjoon sits next to Jimin and now you. Taehyung soon follows you in joining the crew in the kitchen with Jungkook only joining when Yoongi leaves to go and wake him up.
You hum happily as breakfast begins and everyone sits at the table. Soft giggles leave you as you carefully watch the controlled chaos of the younger hybrids messing around with the older members of the family during the meal.
------
The two humans sit back while the hybrids take over cleaning up. You and Jungkook wash the dishes. The ferret splashing you with water and playing around. Your face lit up with a smile and soft laughs as you play with him.
Yoongi and Hoseok sharing a look at the scene in front of them. This was just a dream when you had first arrived. The silent hybrid that couldn’t read and did everything to take up as little space as possible was a distant memory now. Your personality finally showing through in everyday things and you were finally asking them for things. Just yesterday, you had asked Yoongi for some art supplies. Apparently, you were watching the others painting and drawing and wanted some basic supplies of your own to try out different mediums. The older one promising to take you out the next day to grab a sketch pad and a few other things for you.
“I’m afraid this might be another fail. The longer that y/n stays here, the more I want them to stay.” Hoseok whispers softly. Trying not to let the other household members hear him yet. Wanting to discuss this with his partner first before bringing it up with the pack. This was a decision up to everyone and not just them.
“Is that such a bad thing? We have the space and the money to support them if they want to stay too. I doubt they want to leave Jimin and it’s hard to adopt out two bonded hybrids.” Yoongi says. “It’s clear that both Jimin and y/n are getting close to the pack too. I’m surprised the younger ones haven’t brought up adopting them yet.”
Hoseok nods as he sips on the coffee in his hand. “Yeah. I found Jin, y/n, and Taehyung cuddling in the living room this morning. Jungkook was there too, but he was in dead sleep off to the side. Not really close to the other three.” He tells the other. Watching as Jimin steps in to ‘save’ you from Jungkook’s onslaught of splashing. A fond smile tugging on the dance instructor’s lips.
“We need to sit back and wait. It’s still early in the foster and who knows what will happen from now until they’re rehabilitated, but it’s been a while since a foster clicked so well with the group.” Yoongi says.
“Jungkook did but it’s been nearly a year since he was adopted. The fosters since then were nice and worked well, but never felt like they would be a good addition.” Hobi muses.
Yoongi nods and pats his partner’s shoulder. “I know love.” He says. Leaving the other human to walk over to you. Your ears swivel back towards him as you hear his footsteps approach.
“Come on kid. Let’s get you changed and go shopping for those things you asked for.” Yoongi says once your head turns towards him.
“Okay.” You say. Smiling up at the human before giving the two hybrids a hug before you scamper away. A soft blush covering Jungkook’s cheeks at the affection. Still not used to you showing it so freely.
“You should change too. Before you catch a cold.” The graphic designer tells the youngest before he’s moving to the sink to wash out his mug and get ready for the shopping trip.
Summary: Hoseok’s the prince of every human being’s dreams. Both literally and metaphorically. Behind closed doors, he is yours. In front of the crowd, he is a man who is yet to be claimed.

Moodboard
The pretty white snow, the translucent flakes of winter, and the spiky icicles dripping from the ceiling. Looking from afar, as a spectator, one might find beauty in it all.
Danger comes in the form of beauty. That same ice-covered ground now scattered with snowmen, is the same one someone died on while driving home. The gingerbread men on the seat opposite to that of theirs, left untouched, warm and bleeding frosting all over the covers. Red to follow soon.
What comes in mind when winter is mentioned? Christmas? Presents? Family? Friends? No..
When you think of winter, “The land of the loyals” always comes to mind. Where people are ruled by monarchs, where they stay loyal to tradition, and loyal to whoever they have or whatever they have.
When you think of winter? You think of Hoseok.. You think of his bright smile that warms you up better than any polar bear fur can. You think of his arms that keep you safe no matter what the situation you are in.
‘Mistletoe up ahead, baby.'
‘Mistletoes are only allowed for the holiday season.’
Oh, Hoseok.. By his panda eyes and disassembled mind you could tell things haven’t been going well lately. The paperwork must have pinned him down constantly, for even with a brain as clever as his, it must have been too much to handle.
You don't want to scold him. Even if every part of your body is advising you to pester him, in terms, of not taking proper care of himself. Nevertheless, he didn't need to be reminded of the shithole he called home and how he was going to be stuck there forever. No escape, no one to stay by his side and nowhere to go.
‘It is the holiday season,’ you stood there stunned by how badly lost in time he was.
Hoseok was on board a train filled with passengers. He sat at the very back of the train’s last compartment, while everyone else was up front. He wore a nightgown, and they were dressed in suits. It was a party everyone was invited to - yet Hoseok didn't remember that. They were ahead of him, and he was lost in his own world. Even when they left, he remained seated by the window. Only to get off once the train stops again.
He opens the door and finds himself in the same place he started. And that was when he realised.. He fucked up.
‘Oh... Then Kiss away.’
Soft lips merged together like cinnamon buns sealed with glaze. Cherry lipgloss lingering on each other's tongue, not as sweet as the feeling of being kissed by the fondness of another person. Fervent licks, so warm and tender that it touches the heart. Bitten lips, bleeding of love.
‘How long are you going to be here for?’
The same question crashes at every loving moment you are to spend together. Because.. that's the reality of your love. As cruel as it maybe, he could never be yours. No matter how many times he assures you that he has always been yours, as the calendar changes and as you both grow older, the fear within you only grows more than it does deplete.
And a part of you knows that it has consumed you long ago. Fuck.. Of course you do.. How could you not? Sometimes, you consider running away just to avoid the day he’ll come crying at your door and tell you of the heart-wrenching news you are not ready for but always knew.
‘Two hours,’ your face lights up at that.
Two hours might not be enough to finish your favourite Christmas film. Two hours might not be enough to love someone. But.. two hours was more than enough.
Even if when it comes to Hoseok, two hours can become a year and two hours can become two minutes.
‘It’s cold. Come over here, my little ice cube.’
‘You suck at being cute, Kiddo.’
‘I am indeed very cute!! Look at me! Look at me!’
‘Laaaaaaast Christmas ~ I gaaaave you my heart~ The very next day, you gave it away!!!’ he pokes his cheeks playfully.
‘My ears, kid-’
*Mwah*
‘Don’t call me Kiddo,’ he huffs, hands folded and placed underneath his chest.
‘You’re my baby. What else do I call you?’
‘No.. You’re my baby,’ he tried keeping up a stern expression, but ends up erupting into a smile. His dimples poking out, his heart-shaped lips beautiful as your hearts beating erratically as the orange flames sizzle away.
The smell of tree bark and oak, mixed with that of his flowery fragrance seducing you into falling asleep and cascading to a world in which your happily ever after is guaranteed.
For in that world, you are a princess. More than privileged enough to be his bride. Regardless of what, dreams are dreams. The realisation of such leaves a blizzard of animosity in one’s heart and mind. It sure does yours.
In the real world, you are of fairy blood. Not just any kind.. Dark Fey Blood.. Your mother was human, and your father was a fairy. As much as fairies of your kind have been regarded as evil creatures that must be warded off, that was far from the truth. And that was far from what your father was.
He was the kind of father that would always allow you to latch onto his feet, even if that meant he were to trip.
‘The world is a cruel place, my child. Especially for people like us. Because of how dark our wings are and because of the way we look, we are evil to them. The fairies they deem as kind and charitable are the true monsters. Their colourful wings are just a mere illusion - to lure humans in just as flowers do bees.’
‘Just because they assume we are terrible, it doesn't make us terrible. Always be kind and helpful to those around you. That’s what makes a good fairy. Remember that, my child.’
Those words you have always stuck with. Therefore, the day sixteen-year-old Hoseok ran away into the woods and knocked on your cottage’s door, you were more than willing to assist him with food and shelter.
You were always warm-hearted and benevolent, but when treated unfairly, you distanced yourself. There was no advantage in acting the same way. Drawing a line was peaceful and brought no harm to anyone.
If Hoseok hadn’t been the good-natured and cultured man he was, as mean as it sounds, you would have kicked him out. Yet here you are today, in the arms of a temporary guest that keeps coming back. You don't mind it.. In fact, you love it.
‘Why did you come back after that day?’ your fingers stroking through his hair, you inquire while your eyes are shut tight.
‘You weren’t just ethereal my love, you were everything I needed and wanted. I never had friends.. Everyone was afraid of me.. I was above them. Way above them. A sword too sharp and great, it blinds them and frightens them away. They all looked at me as though, I’d have their heads chopped up if they even so laid eyes on me.’
‘You.. You weren't afraid of me. Even after I told you who I was. You were never afraid me.’
You were never afraid of him. That's true.. However, you were and are afraid of what he can do.
‘You came back because I was different from everybody else?’
You didn't want to drift to sleep again.
‘No, love.. Because I wanted to see you again. Even if there was anyone else who treated me the same way you did, they aren't you. I just- I liked you.’
‘Now? Well-’
‘I- Love you.. So, get your cute little ass up and go outside for a walk with me. Will you?’
‘Oh, Hoseok.. I’m always up for a walk with you. But-’
‘I wanted to see the first snow with you,’ his arms wrap around your form, sweeping you outside.
The cottage was small.. Really small. It was the length of a dining table for four and the width of three king-sized beds. It wasn’t hard for a man as tall as Hoseok was to bring you outside.
It was hard to live in that little cottage all by yourself.
It was stuffy, damp and dull. Then Hoseok came. He saturated the place up with his everlasting magic and energy.
Despite that.. a little cottage is a little cottage - it will always be cramped up and dingy, no matter the day or night.
You question how a prince like him would rather spend his time here than at a manor house of some sort. His answer to you would always be: ‘Because you are here, my love.’
You’re a person of childish curiosity and admiration - Hoseok loves that about you.
‘See.. It’s snowing, Y/Nnnn..’
‘I love you.. sooo- sooo- much!’
It wasn't rare of him to declare his love for you in such a way. After all, Hoseok is an intensely passionate and openly-affectionate person.
‘I love you too.’
So were you.. If you felt sad, happy, loved, or disgusted - you never bothered to hide it. You could never suppress your feelings for the purpose of satisfying someone else. It was in your nature to express emotions. Your parents were like that.. Your friends were like that..
Tales of fiction.. If only you were like that.
In the non-fiction side of the story: you're a doormat that every passerby tramples on; you're a submissive servant that will do everything to please people, whether superior or inferior to you; you're a happy-go-lucky child with a dark secret.. Wait a minute! What secret? You don't have secrets.. Well, except for the fact that you wear a cheerful exterior to escape from your true self. Oh, that's the secret.
*mwah*
‘I was going to kiss you first,’ his eyebrows frown just as he did, giving you a sour/I’m secretly so happy face.
‘You can always do that now,’ you challenge him.
*mwah*
And he accepts, beating whatever initiative you put up.
‘You hung that mistletoe up on purpose. Didn’t you?’
‘So, what if I did?’
‘Then.. I get to kiss you one million more times.’
*mwah*
‘This one is for tricking me.’
*mwah*
‘This one is because I love you.’
*mwah*
‘My lips are dry. They needed moisturising.’
*mwah*
‘This one is your Christmas present.’
You felt something go around your neck, falling down to your chest. A cold metal chain, contrasting to that of the heat your body emitted.
‘It has our initials on it. It's a promise to be together forever and ever.’
His gifts are out of this world; made with love and care.
One of the things you’ve learned about him that shocked you the most, was that he had a passion for crafting jewellery. He didn't just like it, he was incredibly talented when it came to beading or moulding.
And mind you, him having seen a cat before didn't shock you. Those rare felines that turn invisible whenever they please. He saw one!! Okay.. Maybe he did shock you! The craftsman one shocked you more though. So.. That's what matters.
‘The only gift I ever wanted was you.’
‘Now you have me and this,’ he traces his fingers along the necklace, your name and his smeared against his pointer.
It was as though he was making a wish as he did so. A wish for forever to be true. A wish for Hoseok and Y/N to be forever.
‘It’s snowing,’ you stare up to the sky.
‘Don’t worry, baby.. Fairies have eyes that function differently. You can drip boiling water into our eyes and we wouldn’t be able to feel pain.’
Fairies function differently. You don't have as much of a stable balance as humans do, as your body was designed to be able to fly for hours across the southern hemisphere. Your legs weren't supposed to be of much use.
The things is: you were never fond of the fairy lifestyle.. That's why you opt to walk instead.
‘Can you look down for me, love? Having snow fall into your eyes doesn't sound fun.’
Worrywart! -_-
'If you insist, Hoseok-ah.'
Staring at the ground, you feel his fingers lift your chin up. Your eyes matching with that of his.
‘Look at me.. love. The ground is boring.'
Says the one that is now staring away into the sky.
'If you witness the first snow fall with the person you are infatuated with, your love will never cease to exist,' his hands slid its way to where it belongs - you.
Your hands.. to be precise.
With snow all over his hair, he looked majestic - like an angel sent from heaven to look after the earthlings rather than corrupt them.
Among the trees and bodies of water, he was a diamond among a pile of coal. Beauty was how his brain functioned.. You were convinced. If it weren't like that. How is he so much like a sunflower swaying in a field of grass?
'I didn't know that my Hoseok believed in such superstitions.'
If it gave him hope, he'll believe it.
'I do..'
'Ahh, fuck.'
It was rare to see him cuss. Hoseok loved his flowerly and poetic phrases.
'What is it, Hoseok-ah?'
'I'm turning twenty seven this Febuary.'
In a snow storm, you are kneeling on the ground. Your knees a mixture of red and purple, your hands tied behind your back by a bundle of thick nautical rope.. The same one that tightens around your waist and neck. A blindfold disabling you from using your eyes to see. And then suddenly you sink into a pool of freezing cold water. Your organs failing one by one, as they aren't able to function in such conditions.
'Let's run away together.'
Whether Hoseok was in his right mind or not, you just wanted the rest of your life to be filled with him.
'Are you sure?'
He nods vigorously, so sure of his decision.
'Yes, love..I am more than definite.'
He spoke as though he had prepared for centuries. Like a hotteok (Korean sweet pancakes that are usually filled with red bean paste or brown sugar) recipe he has mastered ever since he was ten. Like a morning routine that he has repeated over countless of times. So much, that he can do it with his eyes closed.
'When?'
'Saturday, my love.'
'This Saturday?'
His birthday is two months away.
'The choosing ceremony starts next week.'
'Are you truly ready to abandon your people like this?'
'They will do fine without me.'
'Your life?'
'My life is nothing without you.'
He was willing to sacrifice so much for you.
'Are you with me?'
'I always am, Hoseok. I have nothing to lose if I were to run away.'
'Saturday.. 2am. Don't forget that, my love.'

Saturday ↴
In the crack of dawn, the time in which wolfs didn't howl and birds didn't sing. Hoseok was wide awake, just as he was the hour before and the one before that. He was afraid of not being on time. So afraid, that he couldn’t bring himself to close his eyes.
'I've got everything we could possibly need. We'll move to the North and start afresh there. Get jobs, have fun, and maybe.. maybe.. even start a family of our own.'
The life and world you have always strived for was a millimetre away from you. A fantasy you never knew you could call reality.
It seems so surreal. The night might have been uneventful and immobile for now, but all you saw in it was constellations of the future that could be yours. You were filled with hope. And anytime worry or doubt wanted to clutch onto you, a look into his eyes was enough to make them disappear.
'Are you ready, my love?'
Like that summer you almost fell over, his hands find its way to yours. It always does.
'Of course I am.'
At that, he turns around - his last encounter with the place he was forced to call home. They say evil is fated to lose, yet that very same castle that trapped his dreams, childhood and entire life from being able to go beyond its walls still stands tall and proud.
Hoseok doesn't dislike anyone, but he despises that place more than he does his title. He had no one to hate..
He was fed food by the servants, schooled by the tutors, and taken cared off by the butlers. He was raised to be king. That was his main purpose of being alive.
You would think... Wouldn’t he hate his father? He never knew the man. He can’t hate a person he has never met.
‘I’m free now.. Aren't I?’ his grip tightens.
Buried six feet deep underground, the carriage was a shovel withdrawing snow to the side. One scoop... Two scoops.. Three scoops.. Four scoops.. Five scoops... Five scoops... Six scoops... Seven scoop-
As you confronted the carriage meant to carry you to a new life, you glowed. You glistened with contentment, your heart shifting to a vivid shade of yellow.
Before it could fully transform to the sunshine gold your state of utter bliss wanted it to, the trees rustled.
Positioned high up was a fully cloaked figure possessed with an arrow in their hands. The arrow? It was aimed at you.
The creators looking over your story has it, that if you had moved at a quicker pace, this wouldn’t have been the ending of your story. No.. This would have happened even if things went differently. Whether you were to wake up at twelve or whether Hoseok didn't turn around - the cloaked figure would have always been there.
‘Watch out!’
Of course he would have chosen to save you... At how he collapsed into your arms, you wish he didn't.
Red everywhere! All you see is red!
When red is mentioned, what comes in mind? That hideous but ever so iconic suit that santa wears? The icing on sugar cookies? The red that intertwines with white on candy canes? It used to be that way.
Now.. when you think of red, you see blood. Blood, so cherry it seeps through snow.. So cherry, it seeps through the coat you wore to keep yourself warm. The same one you took off to keep him warm.
'Hoseok-ah.. Why do you feel so cold?'
You shook and cried through the light graze of your fingers over his face. You were afraid that anything more than that would bring harm to him - hysteria..
'You can't be like this!'
There was nothing to hide from. You were angry.. So what? So what if you induced someone's heart attack? So what if you turned someone deaf? Your fingers that clenched were soaked in fury, your eyes that tightened were drenched in rage, your grimace that increased in volume with your growing wrath was unstoppable.
'You Know?'
He couldn't hear you.. HE COULDN'T FUCKING HEAR YOU!
'You can't be like this...'
Your outrage and resentment was replaced by grief and denial. The empty plate placed in front of you, one that you refused to believe was empty.
'No!'
'No..'
'No-...'
Your voice broke, just as the rest of you did.
Have you ever been punched before? Because this felt like that.. Invisible punches that hit randomly and anywhere it pleases. As though it has a mind of its own.
Obliterating all the butterflies you have ever felt, and taking away all the love your heart has ever had.
Is this how it ends? Thankfully or perhaps, sadly.. It isn't the end..
'We'll save him!' the cloaked figure reaches his hands out for Hoseok.
'Don't touch him! You- You! Get the fuck away!' you jump in front of him, so courageous despite how easily he could shoot a hole through you right here and right now.
'Are you going to let his highness bleed to death then, fey?'
'No.. But, how can I trust you?'
'The kingdom would collapse without his highness. He is needed urgently.'
'He is to be wedded to the princess of the Western Kingdom next Tuesday. The kingdom is falling greatly in terms of finance, and is not going to survive another day without this arrangement. And to think things would have turned out that way, all because of you?'
He was judging you.. He turned you into an ice cube ready to slide away.. You couldn't see whatever irritation was possibly displayed in eyes, but his words and presence was good enough to melt you into a puddle of nothing.
'How do I know he'll live? And.. that- You are not fucking with me?'
He approached closer, your instincts levitating you slightly up into the air and a few centimetres back.
'Since you are so desperate,' he handed over a glass ornament.
The peculiar object you now held baffled you. Tears never stopped falling and your bewilderment too never stopped emerging from whatever curiosity your mind was able to solidify.
'You can keep an eye on him until the day he stops breathing,' a whispered voice that mocked you and prodded at your pain.
So... Is this how it ends?

A few days later ↴
‘Kitty.. Come here... You aren’t going to leave me too. Aren't you?’
You lost him. The light of your life. The shining light that shone onto your dull and meaningless sky.
That day you walked helplessly back home, a puppy wandering back to the home its owner died in. Owner.. You hate that word. Companion.. Yeah.. Companion.. That's better.
Hoseok was your friend, your lover, your happiness... Your everything.
You talk as though he died, when he was walking perfectly fine seconds ago through that magic orb of yours. Well... In your world he did.
What was this house without him?
‘Meow..’
The little kitty.. It gave you hope.
As you whimpered while watching him exchange his vows, it rested on your lap. Allowing you to stroke it, purring occasionally here and there.
‘I want to be wherever you are not,’ tossing a necklace you once held so dear into the trash pile, you give up on him.
If you say it enough times.. Maybe you’ll feel that way.

Two Years Later ↴
Christmas used to be special.. Christmas used to be fun..
But..
‘I’ve outgrown waiting for you to come around as my Christmas miracle,’ once looking out and into the window, you turned around.
‘Oh.. Yoons, I’m sad.’
‘M-eow.’
It was almost like it could read your emotions.
‘Mm-iiiiii-eoaaaawww!’ it hissed with every sob that escaped your throat, and every tear that dripped onto its fur.
‘Meow..’
Who the fuck does this Hoseok think he is? How dare he make my owner cry!
It caressed its nose onto your shirt.
‘That tickles, kitty.. that tickles.’
There’s nothing happy about this holiday when you refuse to meet me halfway.

Dear y/n,
I keep asking myself why you left, and nothing I can come up with makes any sense. All I ever did was love you, y/n. What about that was so wrong? I know it wasn’t part of the agreement we had, but I never planned it this way. I couldn’t help my feelings. You have to understand that, y/n. I never wanted to push you away. I wanted to keep you close, and I couldn’t even do that.
I can’t stop myself from thinking about you every day. Wondering where you are. Where you went. What you’re doing. Your number doesn’t work. Your email’s been deactivated. It’s almost as if you’ve dropped off the face of the planet, y/n. Is that where you are? Outer space? You might as well be, as far as I know. I hope you’re doing all right, wherever you are. I don’t think I could live knowing something terrible happened to you. Maybe not knowing anything is better. Take care of yourself, y/n. Until we meet again.
Love always,
Hoseok
Hoseok blinks awake, startled out of a fitful sleep by some unconscious sensation of falling in a dream, stopping suddenly before he can hit the ground. They say dreams where you’re falling always stop before you can hit the ground, something about how if you die in a dream you die in real life too. He wishes the dream wouldn’t have stopped, wondering what it feels like to slam into hard ground, to shatter into a million little pieces, not knowing if someone will come along to sweep him up into a dustpan and piece him back together. He’s not familiar with the sensation. He only knows falling, perpetually, waiting in suspended animation, never reaching the ground. He reaches out a hand, only to find the spot next to him desolate and empty, illuminated in cold, bluish moonlight. The memories come rushing back to him all at once: the same vacant space where you used to sleep, of waking up alone, the same harsh moonlight spotlighting his solitude, a pale white envelope on the pillow next to him. His name, written on the outside in your delicate hand.
Hoseok, you wrote,
I know about the ring, and I guess I can’t say I’m surprised. You never even had to say it. It’s written all over your face every time I look at you: you love me. And you want to marry me. The wedding, the kids, the happily ever after, you want it all. You want too much from me, Hoseok, and I can’t give it to you. Our arrangement was simple: no feelings, no strings, no expectations. It was never supposed to go this far. I let my guard down too much, and I've already let you have too much of me. It was cruel of me to do that. I should have turned you down from the moment you asked me to dance because I knew in my heart I was only ever going to break yours: your sweet, gentle, loving heart. That moment, when you smiled at me and told me your name - that was it. I couldn’t stop myself. I couldn’t hold myself back.
I know it makes me a coward to do this while you’re asleep, but I can’t bear to see your face when I tell you I’m leaving, Hoseok. Consider this my first and last act of love. Please don’t come looking for me, because you won’t be able to find me. We won't meet again. You’re a good man, and you deserve someone who wants the same things as you, someone who can make you happy. That can never be me, and I’m sorry. I hope you find her one day. She'll be a lucky girl, whoever she is, to have landed a man like you. Treat her well. I know you will. I hope she does the same for you.
Do you know what the saddest part of this is? I think I really could love you someday.
Sweet dreams, Hobi.
-Y/n
He drags himself to his feet and crosses the room to the dresser, where he pulls out a small black velvet box and flicks it open. The platinum-diamond setting, costing a little more than three months’ worth of his paycheck, glitters in the moonlight with an unearthly sort of beauty. He’d never even gotten the chance to give it to you, only ever showing it to his best friend after he’d bought it. “Do you think she’ll like it?” he’d asked.
“Well, I mean, I’d say yes if you proposed to me with this,” Yoongi had said. “But…are you sure about this? Didn’t she tell you she didn’t want any hangups?”
Hoseok closes the box with a snap and drops it back into the drawer. He hasn’t been able to bring himself to get rid of it, thinking somehow he might need it again when you finally return. He heads out onto the balcony, pen and paper in tow. The air is quiet, the world below still tucked under the dark covers of somewhere just after midnight, when the full moon is at its brightest.
Dear y/n,
It’s a full moon tonight. I never thought about them before I met you, they were all just something that happened in the background. You always reminded me when they were supposed to happen, and you told me they all meant something different depending on the month. I think it was the cold moon when you left. It’s May now, that’s the flower moon. It doesn't really matter anyway. Every full moon feels cold to me now. It’s stuff like that I can’t forget, you and the names of those moons. Can you see the moon from where you are? Is your moon the same as mine? Nights like these are when I miss you the most, y/n, when the full moon rises and you’re not here in my arms. It’s starting to get warmer now, but everything still feels cold without you. You said you thought you could love me one day, y/n. Why didn’t you stay and find out? I just can’t wrap my head around it. I have all of these questions and I don't know if I'll ever find answers. I wish you had stayed, at least long enough to explain it to me.
Take care of yourself, y/n. Until we meet again.
Love always,
Hoseok
He meets up with his best friend for lunch the next day, though he doesn’t do much except pick at his food. Yoongi watches him intently, eyebrows furrowed in concern. “Aish, just leave it if you’re not going to eat it,” he says, frowning.
Hoseok sets down his chopsticks and shifts his gaze to stare out the window. Food doesn’t hold much appeal for him anymore, not since you left. Nothing does, really.
“What do you think about going on a blind date?” says Yoongi. “I was talking to one of the waitresses at that new club I was spinning at last week. She’s pretty, seems nice. Seems like you two have a lot in common. I think you might hit it off. I’ll give her your number if you want, next time I’m over there.”
The idea of meeting someone new is almost too much to consider. How could he even think about going out with someone else when you might come back any day now? Hoseok shakes his head. “No,” he says. “Thanks, but…I can’t right now.”
Yoongi sighs and goes silent for a moment. “It’s been six months since she left. You can’t go on like this forever. It’s delusional."
He shrugs, smiling sadly. “Not yet.”
His mother is there when he gets home, the only person other than you and his best friend who knows his apartment code. She comes by almost every other weekend to fill up his refrigerator with leftovers and side dishes, fearing he doesn’t know how to eat properly when she’s not there to cook for him. She doesn't like any of it: that he lives alone, that she can't always be there to look after him, that he took a job here after college instead of moving back home. “Hoseok, I was noticing…” she starts, after they’ve greeted each other. “These are the same dishes I brought you last time. You haven’t eaten them yet?” She gestures at the dishes on the top shelf of the fridge.
“No,” he says. “Just haven’t gotten to them, that’s all.” He doesn’t like to worry her. How could he say that not even her cooking does anything for his lack of appetite? She wouldn’t understand. She never even knew you existed. All she knows is that she has a son who won’t eat her cooking.
"But you’re so thin. Are you sure you're eating properly?" His mother reaches up to touch his face, pinching his cheek. "You look like you’re wasting away.”
“Of course I have,” he deflects. “I’m fine.”
She eyes him skeptically. “Really? You seem so depressed these days. And you won’t tell me what’s going on. I’m worried about you. You’re not overworking yourself, are you? You look exhausted.” His mother pauses, biting her lip. “Why don’t you come home for a bit and let me take care of you? I’m sure your father would like to see you too. It must be tiring, living in the city all by yourself. Some time in the country would be good for you.”
“Everything is fine,” he reassures her, though he’d like nothing more than to spend a week or two at home in Gwangju, where there’s nothing to remind him of you. “There’s a big project at work, and the client’s being difficult, so things are just…kind of rough right now. But I’ll get through it.” It’s surprising how easily the lie makes its way out of his mouth. “I’ll come home soon. I promise.”
She still looks dubious, but she goes to depart regardless, making Hoseok swear he’ll have empty dishes ready for her to take back the next time she comes. He watches her leave, longing to fall into her arms and explain everything. There was a girl. I loved her. I only wanted to make her happy. But she left me, and I can’t understand why. It hurts. It hurts so much. Nothing feels right without her. Tell me it gets easier, Mom. Tell me one day it won’t hurt as much. Would she understand? No, she wouldn’t. No one could ever understand.
Dear y/n,
My mother came by today to bring me food. I’ve told her a thousand times I’m an adult and I can take care of myself, but I don’t think she’ll ever get over wanting to feed me all the time. She’s worried about me. I think she thinks I might be losing it. She wanted me to come home for a while, out in the country. That would be good, wouldn’t it, y/n? I always wanted to bring you there sometime, to show you where I grew up. Gwangju is nice. You would have liked it there. I would have taken you there someday, introduced you to my friends and family back home. I wish you would have let me introduce you to my parents. My sister, too. They would have liked you if they’d ever gotten a chance to meet you. We were always so secretive, y/n. They never even knew we were together.
Yoongi says I’m just deluding myself, that you’re not coming back. Everyone else says the same thing too: Jin, Taehyung, Jungkook, all of them. But I can’t make myself accept that. What does someone like Jungkook know about love, anyway? He’s practically a baby. He’s probably never even been in love before. Y/n, sometimes I wonder if you can hear me as I’m writing these letters. Are you out there somewhere, listening to me? Are you out there talking to me too? Are we still connected somehow? I’d like to think we are. That’d be nice. Better than the alternative.
Take care of yourself, y/n. Until we meet again.
Love always,
Hoseok
Hoseok can't remember how long he's been here, or how long he's been drinking. He's lost count of which drink he's on. He's not even quite sure where he is, though he knows it’s a bar of some type. Sounds and voices swirl around him, fading in and out, muffled, rippling, as if he’s deep underwater. He squints at the barstool next to him, thinking, if he focuses hard enough, that he can see your figure next to him, leaning against the bar, in the dress you were wearing when he first saw you. He remembers that night, far more clearly than he should. Seeing you across the crowded dance floor. Only introducing himself because his friends had dared him to, saying how far out of his league you had to be. Your smile, something sad behind it, even then. Back up against the wall as he fumbled with the door to his apartment, struggling to keep your hands off each other, the two of you stumbling down the hall in the dark leaving a trail of clothes in your wake, shoes kicked off, that dress abandoned somewhere in the living room, his jacket slung haphazardly over a chair, until you finally made it to the bed, fully exposed, your bare skin practically iridescent in the light of the full moon, beckoning him closer. Losing himself in you, in your body. Passionate moans and breathy sighs. Your breath on his ear, whispering his name, your voice sending shivers down his spine. Waking up the next morning with you curled into his arms, head resting against his chest, as if you were always meant to be there. Your hair, your eyes, your smudged makeup from the night before, everything about you - perfect. He's gone back to that night a thousand times, relived those moments over and over in his mind, wishing with everything in him that he could go back in time to keep himself from ever seeing you, from ever daring to speak to you. To satisfy the part of him that wishes he had never met you, and to hell with the part of him that never regretted a single moment.
As soon as he reaches out to touch you, your image evaporates, dissipating like a reflection on smooth water. “Y/n,” he mumbles. “Where did you go?” He rests one cheek against the cool surface of the bar, lulled by the warm feeling of the alcohol and the swishing sound thumping in his ears. I don’t want to be alone, he thinks. Please don’t leave me alone. A warm, comforting black blanket sweeps over him, blocking out the sound and light from around him.
He becomes aware of reality again when he notices the feeling of someone shaking his arm. “Hey,” sounds a voice in his ear. “Hey you, wake up.” He slowly comes to, sitting up and looking around. The bartender who’s been serving him all night is leaning on the counter, arms crossed. Her face is a mixture of resigned annoyance, as if she’s had to deal with this one too many times. “It’s last call,” she says. “We’re closing. You want to close your tab, or what?”
“Go ahead,” he says, sitting up and dropping the side of his face into his palm. She walks off and returns moments later, sliding a receipt across the counter to him.
“Are you going to be all right to get home?” she asks. “Do you want me to get you a cab? Or is there someone I can call for you?”
Y/n, he thinks. “No,” says Hoseok. “Don't worry about it. I'll be fine.” He stands up and immediately stumbles.
“Okay, you’re not going anywhere,” says another voice, one that sounds familiar. Yoongi pulls Hoseok’s arm over his shoulders and steadies him. “Come on, I’ve got you.”
“Yoongi?” he slurs. “What are you doing here?”
“You drunk-dialed me, remember?” says Yoongi dryly. “Well, no, I don't guess you'd remember. That was a while ago. I thought you'd have gotten home by now.”
He doesn’t say anything, allowing Yoongi to drag him along.
“What, drinking alone?” Hoseok chuckles goofily, reaching out his index finger to poke Yoongi in the cheek.
“No,” Yoongi says, slapping his hand away. “Whatever this is. Beating yourself up over every little thing. Drinking until you pass out. I’m your best friend, Hob-ah. You know I’ll be there whenever I can, but I can’t always be there to drag your sorry ass back home. I have my own life too. The one time I don't pick up my phone you’re going to get so pissed drunk you’ll wander out into the middle of the street and get yourself hit by a bus or something, and you won’t even notice.”
“You worry too much,” mutters Hoseok. “You should get together with my mom.”
Yoongi sighs and doesn’t say anything else until they’re home, releasing Hoseok to fall onto the couch. “Probably fucked up my shoulder even more just dragging you home,” he complains. “Fuck, I can’t deal with this anymore. I don’t know how you can either. She’s gone. Not coming back. It’s the truth. You need to accept that. The sooner you do the sooner we can all get on with our lives. You'll never be able to move on if you're just sitting here wallowing in the past and what might've been.”
“I can’t,” he mumbles. “It hurts too much. If she'd given me a chance—”
“What? You could have changed her mind? Gotten her to stay?” Yoongi sits down on the ottoman across from him. “Hobi, I hate to break it to you, but you couldn’t have stopped her from leaving any more than I could have. She knew what she wanted. You knew, too, and you still let yourself fall for her. She was always going to leave because you were always going to let your heart get involved. That’s just the kind of person you are. It wasn't a matter of if, it was just a matter of when. You were never cut out for that kind of relationship, and I don’t know why you insisted on pretending like you were. You wouldn’t have been happy with that kind of arrangement in the long run, and if you think I’m wrong you’re just lying to yourself.”
He lets that sink in. Yoongi is wrong - he’s sure of it. He would have been happy. You could’ve been, too. Things could have changed - he could have made you happy. “Get out,” says Hoseok, rubbing his eyes. “Just…leave me alone. Please.”
Yoongi stands up. “Fine. Get some sleep. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.” He lets himself out, allowing the door to slam behind him.
The room suddenly feels unbearably small and stuffy, and deafeningly silent now that he's alone again. He stumbles his way over and out to the balcony, gasping slightly as the cool evening breeze lands on his flushed cheeks. The moon is in a different phase now, waning from the full in preparation for the new. Even so, the stars seem somehow brighter tonight. He stares up, transfixed by the sky, every star where it’s supposed to be. Every star except you, the one that’s supposed to be right next to him. He allows himself to get lost in the starfield, hoping to find some indicator that you're still out there, that you've simply fallen out of orbit and gotten lost somewhere out in space, just like he is now, drifting through, waiting for someone to reach out and grab your hand and pull you back toward them.
That's the last thing he remembers when he comes to the next morning, early, as the sun is making its way into the sky again, sitting upright in one of the chairs he leaves on the balcony. His neck is stiff, his back is sore, his head is pounding angrily, and his search for you in deep space was once again unsuccessful. He hears the sound of birds, of the early morning buses, feels the sunlight on his face, smells the scent of a spring morning in Seoul. All of it only serves as a reminder that he's here, alone, without you. You're not lost in space. You're not here. You're not anywhere. You're somewhere far away, beyond his reach or anyone else's. You're not his anymore.
Maybe you never were.
Dear y/n,
You said you couldn’t be the one to make me happy. If that’s the truth, then why do I feel so empty without you? Why does the world feel so cold when you’re not here? I was happy with you, y/n. You didn’t even have to try to make me happy. As long as you were there, I was happy. That’s why I wanted to marry you. To have you by my side for the rest of my life was all I ever wanted. It would have been enough just to wake up next to you every morning, to hold you close, to look into your eyes and see you when you’re groggy and half-asleep. For you to be the one I came home to every night, to be the only one I’d ever be with. If I could have had that, I would have been happy for the rest of my life.
But maybe you were right. Maybe I was asking too much. Maybe I wanted too much. You weren’t ready. I know that now. But y/n, I would have waited forever if you asked me to. I could have been patient. We would have figured it out together. I know I could have made you happy too, if you’d only given me a chance. Since you cut me loose, I’m just drifting around, lost in space. I’ve tried to forget you. It's been six months. By all logic I should have already forgotten you and moved on by now. But I can’t. I tried to drink you away, but I couldn't. It only made your face clearer in my mind. I still see you everywhere I go. What am I supposed to do now, y/n? When my heart still aches for you, even though you’re the one who broke it? When all the alcohol in the world couldn't even make me forget you? What am I supposed to do now? I don’t just miss you, y/n, I need you. I hate you, but I still need you. What sense does that make?
I'm sorry. My head is pounding. I'm going to bed now.
Hoseok
He’s preparing for another night in when there’s a sudden pounding at his door. Half expecting you, or god forbid, Yoongi, he opens it, finding Jin and Jungkook outside instead, and he can’t help but feel a tad disappointed, though admittedly his friends are a welcome sight. He can barely remember the last time he even saw Jin or Jungkook or any of them other than Yoongi, to be honest.
“See, I told you he was in there,” says Jin cheerfully, shooting Jungkook a sideways glance. “He barely goes anywhere these days. And he always opens the door when he knows it’s me. Isn’t that right, Hobi?” He pushes his way past him, clapping Hoseok good-naturedly on the shoulder.
“What do you guys want?” he says, following them into the kitchen. Jungkook is perched on one of the barstools while Jin leans against the counter.
“Yah! Who says we’re here because we want something?” demands Jin indignantly. “The restaurant gave me the night off for once so we’re going out. We wanted to stop by and say hello, that’s all. Can’t we say hello to our friend that we haven’t seen in a while?”
“Hi,” says Hoseok. “So where are you headed?”
“We’re meeting Taehyungie at that club downtown,” replies Jungkook. “That new one Yoongi-hyung keeps talking about. We thought we'd finally go check it out.”
“Oh.” He hasn’t been out to a club since before you left. “Have fun then, I guess.”
“Well, if you’re not doing anything…” Jin says, looking at Hoseok pointedly.
“Yeah!” Jungkook’s face brightens noticeably. “Come out with us, hyung. Please?” With his big, earnest doe eyes, he looks so innocent that if it weren’t for his muscled arms no one would ever believe he was a professional MMA fighter. “We haven’t gone out together in ages.”
“Yeah, Hobi, come with us,” pipes Jin. “We never see you. You don’t go out anymore. And you’ve been so down ever since…” He hesitates when he sees Hoseok’s face. “Well, all I’m saying is that you deserve to have some fun. Live a little. You know?” He sidles up next to him, nudging him gently with his elbow. “Come on, let’s do something together. You used to love going out. Things haven’t been the same without you. And you know Kookie will desert me the second he gets a better offer anyway, like he always does. You should come. Keep me and Tae company.”
“I don’t do that every time!” protests Jungkook.
"Almost every time," retorts Jin. He turns back to him. “Please? We miss you, Hobi. Not just because you don’t go out anymore, but the way you used to be. You’re so mopey these days. I don’t think I’ve seen you smile in months. Yoongi says you’ve been drinking by yourself a lot lately, too. If you’re going to drink tonight, why don’t you do it with us instead of sitting here drinking by yourself? We’re a lot more fun than you are right now. I guarantee it.”
It’s true, it has been a long time since he’s gone out, or even spent any time with his friends. He used to like going out on the weekends, drinking for fun, not to forget. He's not sure he remembers how to do that anymore. “I don't know," he says, looking down. “I probably won't be much fun. You'd be better off going without me.”
"All the more reason you should come," Jin says. “You're just out of practice, that's all. You won't be any fun if you don't at least try." He drops a hand on his shoulder. "So what do you say?"
Hoseok ponders this for a moment. Is it too soon? Are his friends right? Does he deserve to have fun? Should he just do as Yoongi says and get on with his life?
"Yeah," he says finally. "Why not? I'II come.”
The club is louder than he remembers: almost too loud. He finds himself wishing partly that he'd stayed home where it's quiet, the drinks are already paid for, and he can hear himself think. Although, the other part of him thinks that maybe it's a good thing he can't hear himself think, and he wonders why he didn't try this sooner. Maybe he would have forgotten you before now if he had. Taehyung has already paired himself off with a woman who looks like she belongs on a runway, and the ever-charming Jin is surrounded by a clump of girls – and guys – in another corner of the dancefloor. Jungkook has disappeared too, although to where he’s not sure. So much for doing something together. He sighs and keeps his spot by the bar.
Someone approaches, a girl in a tight black dress and stiletto heels, her face framed in S-curls. “Hi there,” she says “You look lonely.” She smiles invitingly. “I can keep you company, if you like.” She’s pretty, like a member of one of those idol girl groups. She looks nothing like you - her eyes don’t have that same sadness that always seemed to be behind yours, and her smile seems genuine, whereas yours always seemed a little feigned. Her dress is far shorter than you ever would have dared to wear yours, just barely covering the tops of her thighs.
He hesitates for a moment, before saying, “Sure.”
She takes the seat next to him. “My name’s Jihyo,” she says. “Yours?”
He downs the last of his drink. “Hoseok.”
Jihyo leans in, and he can’t help but glance down at her chest, her arm pressing her breasts upwards. She’s hitting on him; that’s obvious enough. “You’re cute, oppa. But why do you look so sad?”
The question catches him off-guard. “What?”
“Let me guess,” she says. “You just got out of a relationship, didn’t you?”
Was it ever really a relationship? Or was it just an arrangement? “Something like that,” he says finally.
“Me too,” she says. “About a week ago.”
“I never would have guessed,” he says, and he wouldn’t have, not with the way she’s acting.
“I’m a good actress.” Jihyo grins. “Besides, he was all wrong for me. I’m over it - mostly.” She looks him directly in the eye. “What about you, oppa? Are you over her?”
She’s bold. He’ll give her that. “No,” he says. “Not in the slightest.”
“Do you want some help with that?” Jihyo smiles mysteriously. “People say I’m very… therapeutic.”
He knows exactly what she’s asking. “Your place or mine?” he says automatically, before he knows what he’s doing.
“Yours is fine,” she says. “I have roommates. You live alone, right?”
He doesn’t even want to know how she figured that out.
Jihyo is gone by the time he wakes up the next morning, leaving not even a single trace of herself behind, other than a scrap of paper she’s left with an almost indecipherable scribbled phone number. He realizes, as the sunlight is creeping into his room, that this is the first morning he hasn’t automatically thought of you the moment he woke up. The first morning where the light of day isn’t as painful as it was the day before. He has to hold himself back from immediately entering her number into his phone to tell her good morning, to ask her if she got home all right, that he would have given her cab fare if she’d asked. In all likelihood he’ll probably never see Jihyo again. So none of that really matters now, does it?
Jin: Yah! Where did you run off to last night without telling us? You’re as bad as Jungkookie now!
Hoseok: Me? What about you? You deserted me first. Whatever. I had fun at least. Let’s do something again the next time you’re free.
Jin: Yeah! Let’s do it!
He tries it again the next night, bringing home another girl, with another short dress and a different name. This one wants to hang around and talk in the morning, instead of vanishing silently while he’s asleep like Jihyo. He wishes she wouldn’t, that she’d quietly get her things and be on her way out. He’s relieved when she’s finally gone. She talks too much, which is good in bed but nowhere else.
It gets easier, eventually. Every morning, he notices, becomes a little less painful. He’s finally figured it out, he thinks. The answer to the question of what to do to forget you. A different woman for every night you’re gone, from here on out, until the day comes where it doesn’t hurt so much to face the truth, that you’re gone and never coming back. Where he doesn’t automatically wonder where you are or what you’re doing, or whether you still think about him. He stops writing you letters eventually too, tucking the sealed envelopes into a shoebox, along with the tiny velvet box he never found it in himself to get rid of, and all the other little things that remind him of you. The shoebox makes its way onto the top shelf of his closet, where it won’t be thought of again for a long time. The next time his mother comes into the city he sends her back home with empty dishes, having finished off every leftover. He finds himself smiling again, now that you’re not constantly on his mind anymore. He feels lighter. Like he could be happy again without you.
It’s true, dwelling on the past will only hold you back. The only way out is forward. Yoongi was right about that, at least. But in the end, it was you who taught him the most valuable lessons: to keep things short and sweet, to stay detached, to keep your heart closely guarded. He knows this now. Everything that ever reminded him of you is gone, but the scars on his heart will always be there, a silent reminder of a mistake he’ll never make again. Falling for someone, allowing them to hold your heart in their hands, even for only a brief moment - only ever ends in heartbreak. Hearts are fragile, slippery things, and they’ll always end up sliding out of your hands, fracturing into a million little pieces, too small and too delicate to be put back together.
The night was still young as you exited the dingy club, taking a cigarette between your fingers from a friend to unwind. The slow cycle of breathing in and puffing out smoke allowed you to mull on the night’s events.
Tonight, you met a stranger.
You’ve never been one to pay attention to people around you, but curiously enough, as you sipped on an unfamiliar drink you had mindlessly picked off the menu, your eyes were drawn to a couple shielded by the shadows in the club.
Like every other couple in this club, they were dancing against each other, pressed up into the other’s chest like they were stuck together with 502 glue. The man held his dance partner closely, swaying along to the rhythm with expertise, as alluring as his backside was, his full face was hidden from your view. You observed his figure as discreetly as you could over the rim of your glass, feeling a bit greedy for a full view of him.
Swiftly, the man turned his partner to the right, and you could now see his side profile clearly. You quickly notice that he has a sharp jawline and how his face very much suited his body, both seeming delicate at a glance, but from the way he moved you knew the amount of power and control he had on himself. The music grew all the more intense, and he held the woman tighter, turning in a circle until- his eyes fell on you.
How ever unreal it may sound, you felt like you were hypnotized by those eyes, partly colored by shadow. They had a slight glint to them, resembling ones of a feline as the man took his gaze off of you without care and back on the woman. You felt a surge of annoyance when you realized he wasn’t interested or attracted in you at all, which was incredibly irrational, as you think back to the moment hours later. Perhaps it was the mood in the club, or the disgustingly sweet drink you had in your hand, but you wanted his eyes to be on you always.
You had soon walked out of the club, not wanting to wallow on your strange urges any longer. It was unreasonable to feel that way, and you certainly hated the way your emotions were out of your control.
As you held the cigar, enjoying the night winds, you absent-mindedly scratched the bandaged wound on your cheek. The image of the man dancing to shitty bar music replayed in your mind, and somehow you keep seeing his eyes in front of yours, like a predator seeking prey. You immediately brushed off the idea of going to meet him again, not wanting to get anymore involved with anyone who goes to that goddamned club. You’ve seen too many freaky things happening there.
The phoenix tree planted on the stone path slowly sheds its dead leaves, and you stare at the littered road for a moment before moving the head of the cigar in-between your thumb and your index, taking the flame out. The stranger you met in the club still at the back of your mind, you sigh heavily, and decide to head back home.
(this is supposed to be a story in about ten parts because i’m down atrocious for more!hoseok :/ don’t make any assumptions about the characters or the plotline until you know everything because nothing in this story is the way it seems right now)

A/N: Hello, I’m back with another smut. This is pretty much a second part to ‘Just Dance’. Legit the aftermath of what happens after the little competition. I listened to Harry Styles ‘Watermelon Sugar’ while reading this. Anywho, if I’m missing any warnings, please let me know. I’d be happy to make any adjustments needed. Enjoy :)
After hours of playing, your bodies fell limp on the couch behind you. Who knew your competition would be this long?
You both did.
You let your body mold into the comfort of your beloved couch as you shut your eyes. Your boyfriend’s eyes were anything but closed. His eyes were glued onto your body sprawled right next to him.
Groaning, you tilted your head backwards to let your body cool down faster. The sudden noise caused Hoseok’s cock stir in his pants. Hoseok gulped at the view of your body dripping with perspiration. His eyes followed the trail of sweat slowly dripping down your neck. He watched as it went in between your heaving breasts causing the shirt you were wearing to have a slight damp patch. So entranced with your chest taking in shallow breaths, he failed to see that your eyes were on him.
It didn’t take long to figure out what was going on in his mind. The hungry look in his eyes and the brief glimpse of his honeyed tongue brushing past his lips gave him away.
Trying to keep a neutral face, you decided to put on a show for him. Slowly, your fingertips trailed your thighs until you felt the hem of his shirt you were wearing. Pulling the shirt off from your body, you let out a delighted sigh at the new freshness you felt. You arched your back slightly as you bunched the shirt up in your hands to dry off any sweat you felt on your body. Your hands purposely groping your breasts knowing he was definitely going to enjoy the view.
Feeling his eyes burning onto your body, your mischievous mind decided to go the extra length that will make him break.
“You know what? Let’s go get refreshed Hobi.” A new wave of energy flowed through your body as you tossed your shirt at your aroused boyfriend. Before he could say anything, you dashed to the kitchen to continue your plan.
Hearing Hoseok get up from the couch with a groan, you quickly reached for your ultimate weapon, watermelon. Taking it out of the refrigerator, you placed it on the marbled counter but confusion rushed into your mind when your hand reached out for the plates you previously used, only to be met with nothing.
Eyes rolling to the back of your head as your hands opened the cupboard in front of you to find out that Hoseok had put them on the very top, again. Bracing yourself for the ache of your thighs from playing ‘Just Dance’, you placed your hands on the counter as you lifted your body on top to retrieve the plates.
Once you were able to get a hold on the plates, you placed the plates on a clear space on the counter before you were able to get off from it. Placing the palms of your hands on the counter to ease you down the counter, you weren’t expecting for your back to hit anything, much less the front of your boyfriend’s chest. A slight panic flooded through your body as you stumbled onto your feet.
Hoseok’s hands moved to your hips and moved you back to his body to keep you still. You felt his breath fanning over the crook of your neck causing your breath to hitch. He started placing kisses on your neck, moving up until he was right next to your ear.
“You know sweet pea, I love how you think that you are slick. What is it that you want?” Your body stilled as his husky voice spoke into your ear. The heat from his body behind you and his husky voice sending a wave of arousal down your body.
“I-” You wanted to answer, the answer was on the tip of your tongue yet no words were able to come out from your mouth.
“Tell me baby, what were you aiming for with this teasing? To get me all riled up? Answer me baby.” He nipped on your ear to get you to release any sound.
“Yes Hoseok.” A choked moan slipped from your lips and Hoseok came close to your face. Lips brushing against yours as he brought his thumb in between to toy with your bottom lip.
“Well, congrats. You riled me up baby. Now, what are you going to do for daddy?” The tip of his index finger lifted your chin to have you meet his gaze.
“Anything daddy.”
“Anything?” His raised eyebrow should have been enough to send you a warning signal but your lips had a mind of their own.
“Anything.” The desire laced in your breathy voice made Hoseok chuckle.
“Good now, I want you to sit here and eat some juicy watermelon.” You wanted to wipe off the smug look from his face but you knew better. His hand patted the counter you were on just a few seconds ago. Nodding, you backed up to the counter and placed your palms once more on it only to be stopped by his disapproving tone.
“Strip for me sweet pea.” He took a few steps back to rest against the counter across from you to fully absorb your image, his gaze never faltering as you took off the remaining clothes. You bit your lip to keep any sounds from spilling out from your mouth as you took off your dampened panties. Hoseok groaned as he saw your soaked panties clinging to your glistening pussy.
Refraining from any more teasing, you looked right into his lustful eyes as you finally raised your body on the place Hoseok patted seconds ago. You winced as your heated pussy made contact with the cold marbled counter. The contact made chills form all over your body. Trying to keep your warm core from touching the cold counter, you tried to lean back onto the wall and moved your hands to cover your chest.
"Color?" Hoseok's eyes flashed a glint of concern as his eyes searched for any trail of discomfort written on your face.
"Green." You flashed a bright smile as you answered Hoseok. He always made sure you were comfortable during any given time. It made your love for him grow as he always ensured your comfort before anything else.
"Good girl. Now, sit up straight baby and let me see those gorgeous tits of yours."
"Yes daddy." Sitting straight, you let your hands fall right in your lap as you looked at Hoseok for the next instructions. Hoseok pushed himself from the opposite counter and walked with you with a hungry look on his face.
"Spread yourself open for me sweet pea." Nodding, you spread out your thighs with your hands to grant him full sight of your glistening pussy.
Once he neared your body, his fingers ghosted on your spread out thighs. The mixture of the heat coming from his fingers and the cold air hitting your spread out pussy caused your arousal to pool down onto the marbled counter.
“Would you look at that! You’re so ready for my cock but it’s time to give you a taste of your own medicine baby.” Your teeth caught your bottom lip in its grasp to stop any sounds from coming out but your boyfriend’s thumb gently rubbed on your lips.
"I want to hear your every sound baby. Come on, let me hear you." Nodding your head, his hand reached out to pick up a piece of watermelon that you had cut the day before as he slotted in between your spread thighs.
"Open that pretty mouth of yours for me." The piece of watermelon was gently pressed onto your lips as he waited for you to part them. His slender fingers spread the juicy fruit around your lips causing the juices to trickle down your chin. Hoseok's lustful eyes followed the liquid flow down onto your chest.
"Eat up baby." His fingers pushed in the piece of fruit into your mouth as he pressed open mouthed kisses down your neck and stopped right at your glistening breasts. Hoseok's breath was right over your erect nipple and poked his tongue out to lick up all the sticky liquid. His hand slowly traveled from your lips to your neck, from your neck to your chest and firmly grasped onto your neglected breast.
Whining into his grasp, your core was now throbbing from how aroused you felt. You needed to feel something, something to ease the slick mess in between your thighs. Your hips started to move on their own to relieve yourself on the marbled counter. The cold marbled counter bringing a shock of pleasure all over your body.
So entranced with getting relief, you missed Hoseok's hand sliding onto your hips to stop them from moving. A whine escaped your mouth as your hips could no longer move. Hoseok harshly sucked your nipple as he brought your hips closer to his. Releasing your nipple, he pressed an open mouthed kiss on it soothe it down. Pressing your chests together, he brought your lips together and slipped his honeyed tongue past your lips.
In between tongues clashing against each other, your hands feeling each other's bodies, hips grinding against each other to provide just about enough friction to feel pleasurable, you needed more. You wanted more. You needed to feel him. All of him. Not wanting to waste anymore time, your fingers desperately ran up from his chest to get a hold on his face to slow him down.
"Daddy... please... need you." Your words coming out after each heated kiss. His hands peeled away from your body to discard his sweater and your hands helping him out. You needed to feel all of him and he was willing to give it to you, always.
“I got you baby." You whined as he moved away to peel off the last of his clothes. A sigh of relief escaped his lips as he freed his hardened cock from its restraints. Your eyes dropping down to admire his cock. It was the most beautiful cock you've ever seen, not that you've seen many but his suited him in every way. Your pointed tongue poking out to wet your lips as you thought of how your pussy would deliciously stretch out around his thick length.
"Ready sweet pea?" Your mind distracted you from noticing him right in between your thighs. The tip of his cock brushed against your slick lips as he waited for your answer.
"Ready daddy." Pushing past your folds, Hoseok sank his thick length in you. A mixture of moans slipped from your lips as Hoseok bottomed out in your warm core. His cock twitched in you causing your pussy to clench around him. He pressed his lips against yours to silence your moans as he patiently waited for your body to relax for him. His hands molded onto your body, soothing you as he brushed them along your body.
Once he felt your body relax against his, he slowly pulled out until the tip of his cock was all that was inside your heat and thrusted back into you until he built a steady pace. Every snap of his hips against yours made you feel full and satisfied. Wanting him closer, you wrapped your legs around him causing him to hit that sweet spot that had your toes curling.
As the need of feeling him close grew, you pressed your chest against Hoseok's and another spark of pleasure spread all over your body as your swollen nipples deliciously rubbed against his chest. His arms wrapped around your body as he switched from thrusting in you to rolling his hips against yours. The rolling of his hips provided the extra stimulation you needed on your swollen clit bringing you closer to the edge.
Your pussy started clenching repeatedly as you felt your high near. The control you had over your moans completely disappeared as you heard Hoseok moan out curses laced with your name right next to your ear. Your orgasm blinded you as Hoseok's pace picked up. His cock hitting every sweet spot just right. Your own orgasm caught Hoseok by surprise as well as he filled you up to the brim. His hips slowly continued to move as he rode both of your highs.
Coming back to your senses, you felt Hoseok press soft kisses wherever he could reach. The slight movement caused his cum drip out of your swollen pussy. His lips finally met yours and placed a sweet kiss on them, making sure you felt every ounce of his love for you. He pulled away to place his forehead on yours, a worried look plastered on his face.
"Did I go too rough? Are you okay sweet pea? Does anything hur-" You silenced his rambling with your index finger. His eyes widening at the action.
"Everything was perfect, Seokie. I love you." You brushed your nose against his as you felt your cheeks heat up once more.
“I love you too sweet pea. Wanna take a bath together?”
“Lead the way Seokie.” With no energy to complain, you let Hoseok carry you all the way to the bathroom. As soon as your bodies entered, he set your body next to the bathtub to set up the perfect bath for the both of you. He settled in for a warm lavender bath tonight, the scent of the lavender instantly relaxing you.
Once the bath bomb set, he set you in the bathtub first and slotted himself right behind you. Hoseok wrapped his arms around your body and brought you back to relax on top of him.
“I love you so much baby.”
“I love you too Hoseok. Thank you for being so amazing.”
“For you, always baby.” He pressed one little kiss on the back of your ear as you slowly drifted to sleep in his arms. He was sweet indeed.
