Cleaned, tested, and prepped a few more things for sale today: DrumKat dk10 drum pad controller, MOTU MIDI Express XT 128 channel MIDI USB, uh ... thingamajiggy. And an E-MU Procussion percussion module. I had to make sure the midi usb controller worked in order to test the E-MU as well as the DrumKat - once I tested the DrumKat I was good to go for all three.

I was passing by my MOTU audio interface and decided I'd bust out my old (like hasn't been turned on in 20 years) computer, hook it up to a spare keyboard, mouse, monitor, and the MOTU audio interface. Couldn't remember my password so had to boot to single user mode to, uh ... get access. Did so, and spent WAY too much time wandering down memory lane going through a bunch of files from my music projects from the 90's and early 00's. Now I need a way to get SOME of that data off the old computer. It only has an ethernet port, but I've got nothing to plug it into in the basement. No floppy, but maybe a CD burner, but then no CD on my laptop. Maybe a USB drive? Yeah that could work.

Anyhow, I still need to put the audio interface through its paces to make sure it works, then shut down the computer, pull the PCI card the audio interface connects to, list it for sale, and hope someone out there wants something SUPER old and obsolete!

Also did another toy roundup today, fishing bones out from under couches etc. Someone needs to put a stop to this.

Update on gear sales!

Wow, overnight someone paid asking price on one of the things that someone lowballed me for, and while I was in my shower someone else bought another piece of gear at asking price! Everything that I'm selling I chose to list at the bottom end of what Reverb.com suggests as a fair price for the condition of a piece of gear hoping that it would sell quickly, but I wasn't expecting these things to go THIS fast.

Except for the one thing I sold overnight (with an offer within minutes) - I had no comparables so I did my best, guess it was good enough!

Anyhow slightly stressed that I need to get these things out the door today.

Feeling pretty good about the day

Made some time to locate power supplies, clean, and test some of the gear I picked out that I want to sell. I've had one DOA, but successfully tested 8 more things I can sell - one of which was required to get working to test something else, and old school midi drum controller. So like 11 things ready to go, two more to cleanup, one more thing to test and assuming that all goes well that's 14 things I'm hoping to sell soon.

Am I going to make a ton of cash? No.

Am I going to make back a large fraction of my initial costs? Also no.

But I'll be getting rid of clutter, recouping a tiny amount of cash, and hopefully letting someone else enjoy the gear.

I sold something else over the weekend. Someone made me an offer and I decided to accept it even though they were in MD and reverb.com would collect sales tax. Total price was pretty low so it didn't "cost" me that much. But after I accepted the offer, THEN the guy asks for more detailed pics, as if the pictures didn't match his expectation then he'd rescind?

Whatever, he was happy enough with what he saw. I decided I'd buy a reverb.com mailing label (sometimes it works out cheaper, sometimes not) but the only label I could get was USPS for ~$10, about half what I was expecting.

And I found out USPS will pick up postage-paid packages for free! So I bought the label, arranged a pickup, set the package on my front porch Monday morning and waited. I checked on it throughout the day; still there. Forgot about it, cooked and ate dinner, relaxed on the couch to have some family TV time. Later checked my mail, USPS said they completed my pickup at 7:22pm! Hooray! Looked outside and wouldn't you know it, still on my porch.

The next day I dropped it off at the post office and tried to let them know about the mix up. No biggie.

In other news, toe swelling might be going down. I finally got around to taking some photos of my gear. 6 photos. I got through listing 4 of them. By the time I had finished the 4th, I had offers for two of them. They're low-ball, but I'm not really looking at this like a big time moneymaker, so I'll accept them. But first I need to buy some boxes and packing material. Or just say "heck it" and do another UPS pack & ship, losing money on shipping. Well. "losing". Still haven't sold my '70s kitchen curtain guitar for my asking price. Maybe thinking about knocking it down a little.
