Secret Night at the Mayor's Mansion: The Second Wave
Posted at 9:23 AM | The doors may have closed, but my notes never stop.
The mayor's mansion had more guests than I initially reported, darlings. My sources (and my own two eyes, hidden behind my own very tasteful mask) caught the rest of the arrivals and I simply cannot stay quiet. Round two. Let's go.
BRITTANY MILLER - Brittany walked in and the room shifted. A black and white sequined mermaid gown with a dramatic structured bow sash, long black opera gloves, deep crimson lips, smoky silver eye makeup, pearl drop earrings, and bedazzled black butterfly heels that deserve their own separate blog post. This look has so many components and every single one is earning its place. The red lip against the monochrome is the kind of detail that separates someone who gets dressed from someone who gets dressed. Brittany gets dressed. Verdict: 9.5/10 — old Hollywood villain energy and I am fully on her side. @brittanyxmillerx
ALEXA WHITE - A black sheer star-dusted mermaid gown that is somehow both barely-there and completely overwhelming — in the best possible way. The dress catches light like it was made of light. Paired with a delicate black lace mask that lets the gown do all the heavy lifting, Alexa understood that sometimes the best accessory is restraint. The dark waves and bold pink lip tie it all together. Sultry, mysterious, and completely in control. Verdict: 9/10 — the gown IS the statement. She knew. @whitealexxa
ELIAS REN - A charcoal three-piece suit with chain detailing, layered silver necklaces, and a silver Venetian mask crowned with winged baroque figures — Elias is giving Roman mythology by way of modern editorial and it is working. The layered chain jewelry adds texture to what could have been a very straightforward suit. The mask is genuinely beautiful — ornate without being overdone. He's the kind of guest who makes you wonder who he knows and how he got in. Verdict: 8.5/10 — quietly the most interesting man in a grey suit you've ever seen. @eliasren
DORIAN WEST - Black suit, emerald green tie and pocket square, and a forest green mask with gold fleur-de-lis detailing. Dorian went for the color accent approach and executed it with precision. The green against the all-black is sharp and intentional — it's not trying too hard, but it's clearly trying. The mask is simple but the color coordination gives it weight. Clean, confident, and very much aware of how good he looks. Verdict: 8/10 — the emerald accent is doing a lot of work and it knows it. @xdorianwestx
RIVER CALDWELL - Oh, River. A deep burgundy jacquard tuxedo with black lapels, a black bow tie, and a red and black spiked theatrical mask that looks like it was commissioned by a very dramatic opera house. The mask has presence — almost aggressively so. The whole look reads as someone who wanted to make an entrance and succeeded, possibly twice. Is it a lot? Yes. Is it also exactly right for Secret Night at the mayor's mansion? Also yes. Verdict: 8.5/10 — the mask is unhinged and that is a compliment. @rivercaldwell
VERONICA HALE - She arrived already wearing her mask and I respect the commitment. A black strapless sequined mermaid with a high slit and swirling crystal embroidery, a black lace Venetian mask with crystal trim, and strappy silver heels. Veronica is the person at this party who was born for a masquerade. The sequin pattern on that gown is extraordinary up close — scrolling and swirling like dark water. Commanding, glamorous, and completely untouchable. Verdict: 9.5/10 — she arrived as a finished painting. @veronicahale
EMERSYN MICHAELS - Now here is someone playing a very different game than everyone else tonight. A sheer black long-sleeved lace gown over what appears to be very little, a black lace mask, a gold locket necklace, a gold watch, and a sparkling clutch — Emersyn is the most gothic person at this party and also somehow the most elegant. The blonde hair against all that black lace creates a striking contrast. The gold accessories warm the whole thing up just enough. This look has a secret and it's not telling. Verdict: 9/10 — lace and candlelight and things left unsaid. @tfemersyn
DECLAN MITCHELL - A royal blue and gold brocade tuxedo jacket over blue trousers, a matching gold-trimmed blue Venetian mask, and Saint Laurent black oxfords — Declan committed to maximalism and did not apologize for it once. The jacket is genuinely gorgeous, the kind of piece that has no business being this good at a masquerade. The mask is the exact right choice to match without being matchy. Loud, bold, and entirely self-assured. Verdict: 8.5/10 — baroque royalty, no notes. @declanxmitchell
TYLER DUPONT - An ivory off-shoulder lace ballgown with floral appliqué, lace-embroidered mary jane heels with ribbon ties, a full diamond jewelry set, and a silver filigree Venetian mask — Tyler is dressed like a secret princess who wandered out of an enchanted estate and has no intention of going back. The whole look is soft and romantic and completely ethereal. The lace shoes are an extraordinary detail that most people would not have thought of. Tyler thought of it. Verdict: 9/10 — fairytale, fully realized. @tylerxdupont
LOGAN SLATER - Ice blue. Head to toe, tip to train. A powder blue tulle ballgown with floral corset detailing, blue crystal-crowned tiara mask, pearl-embellished pointed flats with ribbon ties, and a diamond leaf jewelry set — Logan is dressed as winter royalty and made it look effortless. The tiara-mask hybrid is a genius choice that elevates the whole look into something genuinely regal. The flats instead of heels? A bold move that actually works because the shoes are so extraordinary. Verdict: 9/10 — the ice queen of Red Edge, and she knows it. @loganxslater
KENNEDY SIMPSON - Midnight navy ombre ballgown scattered with crystals like a night sky, purple butterfly mask with cascading wings, black diamond-bow heels, and a golden amber jewelry set. Kennedy's look is the most romantic of the evening — the ombre from deep navy to purple to dusky rose is breathtaking, and the butterfly mask echoes the gradient with its own purple and gold. The amber jewelry adds unexpected warmth against all that cool darkness. Genuinely stunning. Verdict: 9.5/10 — dressed as the night sky fell in love with itself. @kennedysimpson
CALLUM ROWE - A burgundy short-sleeve shirt, wide-leg black trousers, gold sneakers, and a black and gold music-note painted Venetian mask. Callum is the only person at this masquerade who went business-casual and somehow got away with it. The mask — painted with literal sheet music — is doing a significant amount of heavy lifting here. It's charming and artistic and saves the whole look from feeling underdressed. Just barely, Callum. Just barely. Verdict: 6.5/10 — the mask is a 10, the outfit is a 6, we averaged it out. @callumxrowex
BEAU WILLIAMS - All black everything — black suit, black shirt, and a matte black minimalist mask with absolutely zero ornamentation. Beau's look is the fashion equivalent of a closed door. No information. No clues. Just black. And honestly? For Secret Night, there is something to be said for the person who gives you nothing and makes you want to know everything. The fit is sharp, the mask is stark, and the whole thing has an energy that is either very cool or very calculated. Maybe both. Verdict: 7.5/10 — mystery as a fashion choice. Respectable. @beauxwilliamsx
KATERINA LOPEZ - Katerina brought the full theatrical arsenal: a black strapless velvet mermaid, a black feathered lace mask, long black lace gloves, a Lady Dior bag in black, diamond drop earrings, a diamond choker, Louboutin black lace pumps, a deep oxblood fur stole, and Chanel dark red lips. Every single item in this look is from someone's most aspirational wardrobe. The fur stole adds drama. The Louboutins are a quiet flex. The Dior bag is a loud one. Katerina is not here to be subtle and God bless her for it. Verdict: 10/10 — this is what "going all out" actually looks like. @katerinaxlopez
EMMETT HILLS - White tuxedo jacket, black trousers, black bow tie, black patent loafers, a gold butterfly filigree mask, a gold watch, and a gold geometric ring. Emmett is the white jacket in a sea of black and it makes him immediately, unavoidably visible. The gold accessories — watch, ring, mask — are cohesive and considered. The butterfly mask on a white tux is a choice that could have gone wrong and instead went completely right. He looks like someone important. Verdict: 8.5/10 — the white tux is a power move and he pulled it off. @emmettxhills
TJ COHEN - A black velvet tuxedo with rose gold baroque embroidery, white dress shirt with cufflinks, a black and white half-face mask with silver scroll detailing, rose gold chronograph watch, and black patent oxfords. TJ's look is refined and intentional — the rose gold embroidery is unexpected against the black velvet and that's exactly what makes it work. The half-mask keeps the mystery level at a simmer rather than a boil. He's the most put-together person in the room and he arrived knowing that. Verdict: 9/10 — velvet and rose gold is a combination I didn't know I needed. @tjxcohen
KIARA LANGFORD - A black strapless draped mini dress with cascading ribbon detail, black feather-and-lace mask, strappy black lace-up heels, a black gemstone ring, a black jeweled clutch, and a black drop pendant necklace. Kiara went full noir and then somehow made it feel fresh by choosing a dress with sculptural movement rather than a traditional gown. The ribbon cascades down like the dress is mid-unraveling in the most chic way possible. Short where everyone went long. Dark where everyone went darker. She found her own lane. Verdict: 8.5/10 — the only person at this party wearing a mini and making everyone else question their gowns. @kiaraxlangford
ELENA DAWSON - A black ballgown with teal-green embroidered floral appliqué scattered across the skirt like secret garden vines, a black metal butterfly filigree mask with teal accent details, and teal satin embellished pumps. Elena's color story — black and teal — is specific and committed and absolutely beautiful. The teal against the black is rich and jewel-toned and gives the whole look a depth that a lot of tonight's guests couldn't achieve. The shoes matching the mask details is the finishing touch of someone who planned this meticulously. Verdict: 9/10 — a garden after dark, and she's the most interesting thing growing in it. @elenaxdawson
