hm. thinking about what modern rgg games sometimes imply and how that appears along with the studio's constant justification of hiring kagawa. the consistent theme of substories and even main plotlines in games that involve women lying about sexual harassment/assault for plot reasons. yamai's life being ruined by a woman who lied about him trying to rape her. the whole plot of LJ hinging on a woman lying about sexual assault. heavy focus on the effects of "cancel culture" in IW. shishido's rape by a powerful man is joked about and brushed off and he is never given justice in any form. saori having to just put up with being sexually harassed ~for the mission~ in several cases in the judgment series (at one point it's even presented as a positive thing that she is being catcalled!) and the running "joke" of ichiban being repeatedly raped in IW. I'm not saying old rgg was without it's issues, misogyny permeates the entire franchise, but modern rgg sure does kinda seem to keep doing That brand of it. the kind that specifically emphasises "don't ever believe those crafty lying women who say they've been raped, they're only saying that to gain some kind of advantage" (with the additional side of "men can't be raped at all/men being raped is funny") I can't help but think it all speaks to such a potent culture of misogyny and rape apologia within rgg studios

so like the whole kagawa thing just keeps getting more unreasonable to me i just found out tanimuras actor wasn't the only one whos been recast because of a drug scandal, the same thing happened with hamuras and its like. i could see people making a case that yakuza 4 came out so long ago that the studio could've toned down on how they deal with controversies surrounding actors but judgement came out like what five years ago?

and people keep bringing up how the game's already finished so they cant go back and replace his model and voice lines and all that but the exact same thing happened with those previous recasts, they literally pulled the games from stores and stuff to replace the characters. screams.
