I saw ur post about the idol industry, and it was really cool and I agree! Smth I read and found interesting is that apparently the reason the actresses/actors are sexualized so much at such a young age is b/c they don't see it as gross as we do here. In fact giving an actress a short skirt is supposed to make her seem more youthful apparently? I don't have v good sources for this tbh, but I thought it was interesting. It doesn't excuse the sexualization obv, but I thought u might like to know

again, it’s a culture thing and ?? what we find horrible in america based on our morals and the general populace acceptance is going to be ridiculously different from somewhere else.  that part of stuff is fascinating because it makes people need to look at stuff from a different perspective and try to understand why culture A find this offensive but culture B does not

yeah i get the whole “short skirt, pigtails” look is supposed to remind people of childhood and make someone feel young, but if that someone is clearly an older woman (and by older i mean pre-teen, early teen in some cases) why the heck would you want to make her look young for appeal?

like, i’m going to have a hard time finding this woman they dressed like a six year old attractive because six year olds aren’t attractive what the fuck

Hey, when you reblogged the photo set of Sela's actress, you mentioned she "doesn't look terrified in any of these photos". Can you elaborate on that? Is it common for girls to look scared in photoshoots?

idk my personal feelings on the japanese idol industry as a whole is it’s really….questionable.  a lot of these girls are barely legal and they’re given a personal gimmick they’re told to maintain 24/7, lest they “disappoint” someone. i mean one girl dared to have a boyfriend and go on a date with him (i think she slept over at his house?) and when they found out - they made her shave her head and give a tearful apology to her fans for “ruining” the imagne they had of her. that shit is insane. these girls are given a lot of outlet with being idols or in girl groups - and it’s probably not so bad for all of them but from what i’ve read it’s actually really toxic? in a whole YMMV sort of way.  like a few go on to be successful actresses and singers with solo careers or models or what not so ?? again YMMV. lots of the girls say they’re thankful for the time. a lot of them who knows where the end up

also idk like in recent seasons of sentai and stuff the actress for a lot of the characters were barely in their teens (yayoi’s actress i think was 14?? kagura’s actress in choochoogers was barely 16, i think), yet they had next to no problems with up the skirt shorts, or thigh shots. actually don’t even get me started on how gross daigorangers was please so let’s move on from there.  a lot of girls in the japanese entertainment industry are young - and the guys are too - but you know, people don’t really seem to have a huge issue/have a lot of trouble fetishizing a young girl.  every now and then you’ll get someone who says “eehh…they look like a little kid” at the direction of the guys, but girls are instantly “i’d fuck that”.

as for the whole terrified thing, a lot of times when i look at photoshoots of the girls, especially the gravaure photoshoots, they look ridiculously uncomfortable.  it could all be entirely up to personal interpretation, but it feels (to me) that hardly any of them are smiling with their eyes. most of them have that same deadpan smile they give and their eyes look like they’re thinking of “for my career” rather than “for myself”. i don’t consider it a “common” thing but when you’re like 16 and someone is taking a photo of your ass while you’re wearing a barely there bikini, i’d probably be uncomfortable too.

tl;dr: IN MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION the japanese idol industry is really questionable and a lot of the merchandise they churn out in regards to the female idols is really….unsettling.

ribbit what should I do when I meet a horse. what do I have that a horse will appreciate

when you meet the horse follow these steps:

1. tell the horse he/she is beautiful. horses are vain and shallow and love compliments.  they will start to trust you more.  good phrases to use are “hey you sexy thing” and “who’s a pretty baby?” ( horses are basically big dogs so the excitement will be there )

2. avoid bad jokes. horses do not like the “why the long face” joke. ponies will destroy you if you ask them about their height.

3. pet the horse. they are made for petting they LOVE the pets. let them know before you touch the face though because that’s just Good Manners since no one really appreciates a stranger just touching their face.

4. kiss the horse. do you kiss your dog or cat? if you don’t why not shame on you. but anyway kiss the horse. that big nose was made for big smooches.

5. bring offerings. it is good to get on their good side right away. horses really like apples and carrots, but you can also give them peppermints and stuff too

6. don’t mention inui takumi or kusaka masato. just don’t
