Voltron headcanon
James Griffin was the first one to realize there was something going on between Keith and Lance.
Like — while Keith was busy simply existing and ignoring literally everyone around him, James, who’d been stuck next to Keith for years, definitely noticed the guy who kept trailing after him like a very loud, very dramatic shadow.
Eventually, James got used to Lance being an unofficial part of their “we-hate-each-other-but-we’re-stuck-together” duo/trio. But when Keith got expelled? James was actually kinda bummed that he stopped seeing Lance around.
At least until he found out that Lance (along with Hunk and Pidge) had gone missing — and James just assumed the guy had run off after Keith. Like, he didn’t know Lance well enough to imagine any other explanation.
Then Voltron came back. And when James realized Keith and Lance had been off in space together this whole time, he just couldn’t help himself and asked — half-joking, half-serious — if Lance had married Keith out there or if he’d just imagined all that chasing. He said it kinda rudely, of course, and got an equally rude answer in return.
In the end, James got his confirmation when he literally walked in on them having a date. And that’s when he decided he’d seen enough.
