she feels like it should be kind of obvious , but people can't help what freaks them out . ' her name's diana . like diana prince ? wonder woman . and yeah , she's extremely well trained . that's kind of the whole thing with guide dogs ---- they do a lot of work to make sure that they can keep their handlers safe , and part of that is being well socialized . ' a freckled hand outstretches to give the golden retriever a pat on the head . ' look . there's this place called guiding hope ---- it's a nonprofit , my aunt runs it . they spend a lot of time and effort on these little guys , and it shows . maybe you should stop by sometime . ' a brief pause before max offers something she does not usually allow . ' do you want to pet her ? she's a little slobbery sometimes but she's really sweet . and she just had a bath this morning , so your hands won't smell like dog . '

Sheldon has been afraid of dogs all of his life but something about the way the dog looks at him with her chocolate brown eyes and her --Is that a smile on her face? He feels safe. Like she won't bite him. He accepts the invitation from the woman and pats her gently on the head, then goes a bit further and starts to stroke her velvety ears before pulling away. He sniffs his hand and she was right she doesn't have that weird doggy smell that most dogs have.

"I like her name. Wonder Woman is one of my favorite superheroes." He wipes his hands off on his pants and continues to gauge the dog with curious cobalt eyes. "I could stop by sometime. Are the other dogs just as friendly?"

"a key?" head tilts, as they glance over dusty and rotted wood. maybe they shouldn't have agreed to come out exploring a house that was falling to pieces, but this actually sounded exactly like the kind of thing they would do for fun. they just didn't realize it was so... serious. they step carefully, and do their best to avoid touching anything.

(this would be a terrible place to be dragged into a memory. old memories fuckin' sucked.)

"are we talking like an actual physical key, or is that a metaphor for somethin'?" they are making shapes with their hands, but they don't really look like anything. "is it the key to summoning a ghost, or somethin'? because. this place is for sure haunted."

"This is a one-time thing only, 'kay?" Matty said dryly, setting the plastic basket filled with fries down in front of Max on the table. "Don't think you can get free food everytime it rains," he continued. He'd called her in as it had started pouring and she'd looked a little lost, but he had to keep his business afloat, too.

"Max!" Karen's face instantly lit up as she opened the door and saw Mike's friend on the lawn. Readjusting Holly on her right hip, she looked the girl up and down - and always, there was that slight urge to run a hairbrush through Max's hair and tie it up in a nice ponytail. Instead, however, she just opened the door some more. "Mike's actually still out with his dad, but come in, come in! Your timing is perfect, I could use a little sous-chef."

Even when blinded, there was no pulling a fast one on Maxine Lorraine Mayfield. Their band of heroes had a dumb little nerdy prediction that losing her sight would somehow give Max powers, the hero's sacrifice, yadda yadda. And for a moment, as Eddie sped down the haunted streets of Hawkins turned Mordor, away from the fight. He wondered if maybe that'd come true in a way. When people lose a sense, their others tend to heighten, right? Which was pretty cool. Shame it backfired on him so fast.

"Haha...what? Pfft, no. Don't be crazy. We are totally going into the maw of death." But when had a backfired plan ever stopped him from making a bigger fool of himself? Never. Man, he could have really used a cigarette right about then. What a further shame that Hawkins was fresh outta those, leaving only smoking brimstone hell behind. "Any minute now, Red. You're gonna hear the unholy screams of interdimensional monsters and wish we were leaving town. Yep!"

As if on cue, he let out a screech when a Demodog rushed out in front of his van. There was no escaping the bastards. Eddie revved up the engine, bulldozing the creature back to oblivion. "Told ya!" He pointed a ringed finger in Max's face even though she couldn't see it.

                  EVERYTHING   FELT   LIKE   HIS   FAULT   DESPITE   THE   FACT   THAT…   EVERYTHING   pointed   against   it.   Maybe   it   was   because   he   was   tired,   body   over   exerted,   and   wounds   still   throbbed   with   memory   that   he   just   wanted   to—   no   needed   reassurance   that   it   wasn’t   his   fault.   However,   there   was   one   thing   that   he   knew   no   one   could   convince   him   of,   and   that   was   Dustin’s   horrible   traumatizing   experience   of   holding   him   as   life   slipped   from   his   body.   He   sighed.   This   wasn’t   the   time   for   that.   Eddie   glanced   at   the   room   number,   and   painfully   shuffled   his   way   inside.   He   knew   he   shouldn’t   be   up   walking.   His   nurse   or   doctor   would   be   beyond   furious.   Eddie   just   wanted   to   see   her   now   that   she   was   awake,   and   near   his   own   room,   “   Red?   You   up?   ”   voice   hoarse. @ripmaxine
