"When I read the script, they'd actually asked me to come in for another part, but I really loved the part of Amy, even though it's quite a small part. But it's a complete part in that you get the whole picture of Amy - in a few scenes actually; of her love for husband and the tragedy of their story. So I really fought to do it, because I thought there was something in it that I felt very passionately about. I can't even remember now what the other part was - but I did have to talk them into letting me play Amy. I think it's great when you read a script like that and you feel so passionately about a character".

‘The Virgin Queen (2006)’ - Robert Dudley (Tom Hardy) and Amy Dudley (Emilia Fox).

“Dudley implied to Elizabeth that he feels nothing for his wife, that their relationship is strictly one of duty. Regardless of what he may say to his queen, when he’s shown with Amy, it’s clear that Dudley cares for her, He is solicitous and Kind, and though he’s not altogether forthcoming, he does not lie to her. Avoidance of the issue is his strong suit, and being as gentle as she is.”
