Robert Crouch: Organs : der011

ー

Robert Crouch[ロバート・クラウチ]はカルフォルニアを拠点に活動するメディア・アーティスト、キュレーターです。直近ではTouchより“Sublunar”がリリースされたことでご記憶の方もいらっしゃるのではないでしょうか。

本作'Organs'を構成する3つの曲は、2014年にコレオグラファーであるJulie Tolentino[ジュリー・トレンティーノ]との約1年間に及ぶ共同制作の際に録音された音源を編集したものとなります。

内容は以下の3つのプロジェクトにおける演奏やリハーサルの様子を録音したもの、パフォーマンスを上演したスペース付近でフィールド・レコーディングした素材を加工・編集・再構成したものです。

'Somniloquy': 教会でのパフォーマンス'Process(ion)X' の準備中に、ジュリー・トレンティーノの演奏による壊れたオルガンのトラックを基調に編集・再構成。

'The eyes of fire': Tania Hammidi[タニア・ハミディ: クイア理論をベースに広範囲な活動で知られるアーティスト]によってキュレーションされ、サンフランシスコ芸術大学にてジュリー・トレンティーノ、Stosh Fila[ストシュ・フィラ]らと共同で行なったパフォーマンスの録音を編集。ちなみにこのパフォーマンスの上演時間は9時間にも及ぶ模様！

'The Propaganda of History': ジュリー・トレンティーノとMark Steger[マーク・スティガー]とのリハーサル・セッション中に行われた録音と7月4日(=アメリカの独立記念日)にウィスコンシン州マディソンにて開催された花火大会のフィールドレコーディングを加えて再構成。

なお作品のステートメントにはドュルーズ=ガタリによる千のプラトー[ Mille Plateaux ]より”器官なき身体”に関する一節の引用とその解釈が記されています。

資料を読めば、ウンザリしそうなくらいに(苦笑)ドュルーズ=ガタリの影響と脱構築的なコンセプトに基づいたアプローチをとっていることは理解できますが......あえてコンセプトを度外視しても、GAS[Wolfgang Voigt]との親和性を感じる音響作品となっていて、その手の音響を好む方には大推薦です！
