Song Review: Robyn Adele Anderson feat. E.W. Harris - “Crazy Train”
Serendipity made her do it.
It, for the record, is a bluegrass rendition of “Crazy Train,” one that singer Robyn Adele Anderson says was recorded July 21, the day before Ozzy Osbourne’s death at 76.
“I always wanted to cover it and maybe something in the universe was telling me to do it while he was still with us,” Anderson said in a statement. “Although he’ll never see it, hopefully his fans will appreciate seeing his spirit kept alive.”
The frontwoman splits vocals with acoustic guitarist E.W. Harris while fiddler Gabe Terracciano fills in where electric guitar once dominated. Outfitted with drums, double bass and banjo, the melody stays close to Osbourne’s save for the bridge, which turns jazzy on a walking bassline and finds Anderson doubling some lyrics.

Finally released July 29, the front-porch “Crazy Train” may seem off the rails to some metal heads. But what is a sacrilege to one is proof to another that good music is good music.
