✝️May Devotion Article🙏🏻 📆Day 29, Thursday 29-05-2020 🕯️TITLE: Why is Mary Called "👑Queen of Confessors❓ Most of Our Lady's titles, as we have seen, are two-fold in their application. They concern Her and those who model their lives after Her. So in the present instance the title "Queen of Confessors" first of all proclaims Her as the greatest of all confessors, and secondly the Queen, Patroness, Model of all confessors of the Faith, especially the canonized heroes. Today, the word "confessor" most commonly refers to the person who hears our sacramental Confessions. But to understand what it means here, we need to consider it in the context of the Litany. This title comes after "Queen of Apostles👉 https://wp.me/p7CLJP-8k" and Queen of Martyrs👉 https://wp.me/p7CLJP-8ts," and before "Queen of Virgins." In some liturgical calendars, you will see these titles (apostles, martyrs, or virgin) after the names of many of the saints listed. Not all holy men and women, however, died as martyrs, apostles, or virgins. Some boldly professed the faith throughout their lives, many in the face of dangerous persecution, but ultimately died natural deaths. To many of these holy people, we ascribe the title "confessor." ✝️May Devotion Article🙏🏻 📆Day 28 Thursday 28-05-2020 🕯️TITLE: Why is Mary Called "👑Queen of Martyrs❓ The Church has crowned Mary, not only with a crown of twelve stars but also with a crown of thorns, in calling Her Martyr—indeed, the Queen of Martyrs. Thus in the Vespers Hymn for the Feast of the Seven Dolors, She sings, "The Virgin stands there the while, more noble than the martyrs: by a new wonder, O Mary, dying, Thou dost not die, though transfixed by such great and dreadful sorrows." And in the Communion Verse for the Mass of the Feast, She declares, "Happy the senses of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which without death obtained the palm of martyrdom beside the Cross of the Savior." All the spiritual writers say the same. St. Bernard, who calls Her "more than martyr," is typical of them all. Day 3/4/5 of Lent: sorry for not posting so much! Day 3 only really got one line from me, as I did not feel as though it needed explanation. But here is my meditation of days 4 and 5, which flows together in my mind and needed some time to ruminate. "This [the first quote] I feel naturally comes to one who is in Christ. There was a time in my life where I felt sorrow of all that I had lost, or that someone else had lost, guide my day. Upon reflecting further on an idea - a feeling - I had discussed with a friend, the words of St. Theresa of Avila began to dawn on me more and more. She speaks [in The Way of Perfection ch. 2] to her sisters of not worrying where their next meal will come from. Talking about being anxious of not falling in line with the world, and so people will not be generous to them. In a way this - that is, being concerned with what the world thinks of you - is like that of an idol. [Quote/page 2] Avila tells us, much like other saints and popes, to not be concerned with the world, but to trust in God and find life in Him. As it applies to my own current circumstance, it means I must let go of my feeling that the world "owes" me. That I may be [in my friends words] generous, does not mean I am owed generosity back. But, that I might struggle with earthly concerns might mean my fellow man is better off, even than myself, is an ultimate good that will inspire Grace in me that any other action could not do. And so I leave you with the words of the Litany of humility: "That others may increase, and I decrease. That others may become holier than I, provided I become as holy as I ought." #catholic #catholicism #tradcat #tradcatholic #romancatholicism #romancatholic #traditionalcatholicism #traditionalcatholic #lent #dailyreflection #christian #christianity https://www.instagram.com/p/B9Q8d9Yn42V/?igshid=ss9aerlqzlmv
ST JOHN HENRY NEWMAN: Pray for Our Church in Crisis
I’m not Roman Catholic but I support unity among all followers of Jesus Christ & feel sad for the state of the Roman Catholic church.
In 2006, we wondered what else we could do to reach out to the lost and the lukewarm. We asked ooursel es how we could get God's message out there on t-shirts as appealling to the big secular brands we saw pilgrims wearing at WYD, in Lourdes etc. We came up with some ideas and launched a store selling to Practicing / Nominal Catholics and their friends across Western Scotland. God decided our aim wasn't far enough. You guys decided you wanted to buy our tees. Thank you shoppers and Thank you God. www.cwaclothing.com/buy #catholic #catholicsofinstagram #catholicism #romancatholicism #romancatholic #lent2019 #passiontide #lifeteen #steubenville #notredame #Lourdes2019 https://www.instagram.com/p/Bv-BUtMH8qW/?igshid=mnexzuaxjmja
