Song Review: Roosevelt Collier - “Peachtree Tunnel” (Georgia Comes Alive)
If Roosevelt Collier hadn’t joined his rhythm section at Georgia Comes Alive, it would have barely made a difference on “Peachtree Tunnel.”
Drummer Bucky and bassist Digo lay down a fat, jazz-and-soul groove. But even the fattest, jazziest, most soulful grooves grow tiresome over five, relatively unchanging, instrumental minutes.
That’s where pedal-steeler Collier could’ve - should’ve - stormed in roaring. Instead, he is essentially a third rhythm player, coaxing atmospheric sounds with his slide, thumb and fingers and leaving the listener waiting for an explosive climax that never comes.
Recorded Dec. 26, 2020, for the virtual festival that raised more than $170,000 for Georgian get-out-the-vote efforts, “Peachtree Tunnel” is a disappointment - a missed opportunity. But we still have the groove - and a Democratic Senate.

ELTON & BERNIE REVAMPED & RESTORED: More than two dozen artists contributed tracks to two planned Elton John/Bernie Taupin tribute LPs - the pop-focused Revamp and the country-leaning Restoration - due April 6.
Coldplay, Mumford and Sons and Lady Gaga and Emmylou Harris, Rosanne Cash and Willie Nelson are among the artists participating on Revamp and Restoration, respectively.
”As songwriters, Bernie and myself are thrilled when singers we admire and respect … choose to add their own unique twist in the process,” John said in a statement. “ … We’re humbled and thank them all for their generosity.”
THE (GIVING) TREE OF FORGIVENESS: John Prine will donate all net proceeds from PledgeMusic sales of his forthcoming The Tree of Forgiveness LP to the Stoneman Douglas Victims’ Fund, benefitting those impacted by the Valentine’s Day mass shooting in Florida. The album, featuring guest slots from Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires, is out April 13.

Recap: Railroad Earth At The National
Words by Jam Band Purist
Railroad Earthis a band beyond description, escaping every genre while still being grounded with reminiscent sounds from America’s past. Railroad Earth is a reclamation of all things Americana. Gathering a devote following, myself included, I always leave their shows mind blown, ecstatic with energy and rearing for more. This would mark only my 4th time seeing RRE but…
