Man I'm tired today! We moved into a house and there's this bed in front of the house and its filled with rose bushes, which, great, roses are awesome! You know what's not awesome? Before we moved in, this place had been vacant for at least a few months. No maintenance was done on any part of the yard which means, the rose bushes were out of control and there were a bunch of weeds in the bed (and also the yard) so today, since we had the day off, my sister and I (with a little help from our dad), tackled this bed. It took us about 4 hours to get all the weeds out and the rose bushes trimmed and then we had to bag it all up; we ended up using something like 12 bags for the stuff we pulled and trimmed because we also did a bit of weeding in the yard. And on top of the weeds and the wildly untamed rose bushes, we also had to dig out some freaking gourd plants! My poor dollar store trowel got bent multiple times and so every time it bent I had to pause and bend it back into shape with the help of a bunch of large decorative rocks! Do you know what the gourd vines grow from? Their roots look like tubers, like radishes or something. I don't think I got all of them out of the bed because it started getting dark so we had to stop and bag everything up and I am so freaking tired now!! On the bright side, the bed looks much nicer now, so yay for that I guess.
