Winx Club Season 4 looks : Critique and Redesigns ( 3/3 )
Roxy was the hardest to redesign for a variety of reasons, mostly because of her powerset and how she would look with the rest of the Winx lineup.Lets talk about her original civilian outfit.I really like the outfit base--her more tomboyish, alternative vibe helps her really stand up from the rest of the winx.Its really memorable, and tells us a lot of her charather at first glance.If I had to rate this outfit on these aspects alone, I would have given it a 10/10.However, what really detracts from that outfit is THE COLORING.I understand why Straffi might have given her lighter colors ( It keeps her synonimous with the rest of the crew ) but why did they choose to make her main colors pink purple and green !? Those colors already belong to Aisha, Flora and Tecna (💀). So I switched it up a little bit.I made her color scheme yellow and indigo, with light pink to alternate.The reason why the yellow isn't so prominent ( yet ) is because, surprise ! That's the color scheme of her transformation ! I chose these colors specifically because not only are yellow and indigo the only missing colors of the winx rainbow, but there also Bloom's colors in inverse.Bloom and Roxy are each other's foils, and I think it symbolic that Roxy's main transformation color be her secondary color.In Roxy's initial redesign I had already decided to lean heavier into her more alternative look, so I could fully delegate the tomboy look to Musa.However, I wasn't satisfied with how it came out, because quite frankly I thought that I could do better (and that pink top is atrocious, what was past me THINKING. ) So in her secondary redesign, I decided to keep the outfits overall look, but I just switched a few things around :D
Roxy's indigo shirt is actually a re-purposed volunteer shirt from the Gardenia Rescue--An animal center which focuses on rescuing homeless and abused pets and rehabilitating them.The shirts yellow paw sits on her left breast, and If Roxy was ever to turn around, you would see a bright yellow " Volunteer " sign at the back. ( Assuming she has her hair out of the way first.) Look, I love Roxy's original shirt but for the love of everything holy im SICK and TIRED of seeing it everytime Roxy appears on screen.Just.Please put Roxy in something else.I beg. Her bright green undershirt was shortened and replaced by a black undershirt.Initially I had given it yellow stripes but I then decided against it because it clashed with her hair. ( more info to come ).I kept her original pants, but Ive just increased the "alt"ness of them with buckles, chains and rings.Finally, I re-painted her signature combat boots brown and black with pink laces. Even though I made Roxy more alternative, I still like to think that she's a practical person.We know that she rescues animals on the daily, so I don't think that she would be wearing big, alternative shoes ( I wanted to give her demonia look alikes so bad :C ).
Finally, lets talk about her hair.After a lot of trial and error...and I mean.A lot of trial and error.Ive decided to keep her hair pink.Well, more accurately-Wine.In this new canon, Roxy's a big fan of dying her hair ( RIP her hair ) and this summer, she coincidentally decided to dye her hair similarly to Tecna's pink shade.This isn't a permanent decision and she will redye her hair soon when she [ NO SPOILERS ].I also gave her racoon tails because not only is this look so early 2010s but it distinguishes her more clearly than Tecna.Finally, I changed her eyes to a bright green--A more regular look than her purple eyes but brighter than what most might consider normal. ( A note : How does Roxy pass for a regular civilian when her eyes are PURPLE.Yes I know that its possible for humans to have purple eyes but they only have them when they have albinism and even then its rare )
