Reverse Rose? The Doctor in a new universe, and Yaz in this one?

God, at least we’ve already done the equivalent of the hologram scene, so it increases the likelihood of being able to have them kiss beforehand.

If they have specifically said they‘ve both filmed the regeneration scene, and haven’t cast the fourteenth Doctor, then it’s cus our normal system isn’t happening this time. End of.

Where you go from there is whatever.

Ultra-Bad ending where The Doctor and Master are force-regenerated and wiped back to children? Don’t think we’d go that harsh but sure, option.

Skip to an alt!Timeline ‘saved TC’ Doctor in progress? Definitely possible, especially with Jo Martin’s “Let’s just say you’ll find me hard to get rid of”.

Random time jump where we start mid-mindwiped Fourteen’s run…honestly super doubt it because it would be much more intense to see them regenerate and go through that, but technically I guess?

There is no reason you have plans for ‘Fourteen’ but you do the regeneration scene without them even being cast when we know for certain we’ve got a future series happening. It is not long or hard to film and edit, you could probably do it a month before the last episode airs if it came to it.

This means there’s a guaranteed disconnect between the Doctor we have and the one to come that is greater than simply regenerating.

(And besides, if they say they haven’t cast ‘the fourteenth Doctor’ or ‘the one that comes next’ or any of that tricksy stuff, that’s Showrunner ’I didn’t technically lie, you lied to yourself’ to a tee, and we’re looking at an alt!Timeline Doctor or whatever.)

Definitely not saying he do this at all, don’t think we’ve got the whiplash time, but can you imagine them deciding to save the Child then at the last moment the Time Lords/Division unsaving her?

If you really wanted to drive home the point of Evil and Powerful Empire, think even the dullards would have the right reaction to that.

Actually I guess you could do the Doctor being wiped from the universe/maybe being in the other for causality stability for the two specials, then have the old universe’s timeline reasserted because the Division would still be alive (they were pre-Time Lords to begin with) then have her dragged back and forcibly wiped and regenerated in the third special and get Martin!Doctor, which also allows you to get the RTD2 reset effect anyway since we wouldn’t be joining her at the start of her regen ala One but she wouldn’t have really any history to know.

…Which I know I’ve just come up with in the last twenty seconds, but holds together?? Wait could that hold together???

Out of all the Jewish themes and stories meta that we’ve had so far, one tale, or the lack of it, kinda stands out.

The story of Abraham and Isaac.

Abraham is told that he will be the father of a great nation, your descendants will be as numerous as the stars in the sky etc. etc. Abraham goes ‘Great, but I don’t even have a son’. So God grants him Isaac. This is the promise, the dream, how this great nation will come about. Then one day God asks, ‘what do you care about more? Your promised nation or me’. Abraham tells God he cares about It more. Then God says ‘prove it’. And tells him to sacrifice Isaac, the start of his nation. After deliberation, that’s what he prepares to do. And what Abraham showed was that he would give up everything, before he would lose God. And that’s when God says ‘good, now I can trust you’, and he stops the child from being sacrificed.

The Doctor ultimately being both Abraham and Isaac; herself and the Timeless Child.

Once again it leads us back to the idea of the root of the Time Lords with the Doctor, and whether or not you save the child. Do we rebuild the Empire of the Time Lords/The Division? Or do we care about the functioning and freedom of Time more?

But it’s also potentially hopeful. That the Doctor can accept her memories and past and what happened, and what was necessary to get there. But then the story says ‘good’. And the child doesn’t have to be sacrificed either.

(And of course it could work on multiple levels, one of which being us - with the sacrificing of the familiar if there’s a soft-RTD2-reset, but would ultimately all prove not to be sacrificed in the end.)
