Kill Team Thousand Sons I've rekindled my love for painting miniatures in the last 2 months after I joined a local group back in December. I had not painted minis in 16 years, although I built a couple of Gundam models a few years back. My friends and I used to paint with enamel paints, which dry very slowly, so we kept things simple, no shading, and maybe just a tiny bit of dry brush. I'm still not a great fan of high contract painting methods, but I have started experimenting with washes, using inks, artist acrylics and other media in combination with standard miniature acrylic paints. Adding some highlights, building layers, etc. It is fun. I'm starting to experiment using an airbrush to paint tiny miniatures, which is scary as hell! Here is my small Thousand Sons warband with some tzaangors, the Ashes of Prospero Coven. For marines I prefer to use glossy or metallic paints, and then add weathering effects if necessary. I used metallic blue green for the rubric marines, and I really like the results. Using washes of brown on top of the gold and copper paint makes them pop up nicely, and deepens the shadows, allowing for more contrast. A nice new thing I've learned. I like how the face of the mutant tzaangor turned out.
