Wholesome Red Velvet meeting Tai and Summer. Cuteness ensues.
Ruby started to pace in the front room of her apartment, eyes still glued to the scroll she held as her fingers started to shake. Normally, she’d welcome any sort of text from her parents, especially since she was still on better terms with them. But today was different. Today, her parents were wanting to meet her girlfriend and she was not ready for any of that. Her heart thumped in her chest with each step she took.
“Ruby, are you okay?” Velvet asked as she watched her girlfriend. “You’re pacing again.”
“Mom and dad want to meet you.”
“And that’s a bad thing?”
“Yes. Well… no… I…” Ruby finally stopped pacing a rut into the living room floor and sat down, scroll dropping to the ground. “I’m a little… nervous. Dad… dad didnt take Yang being with Blake and Weiss very well and mom… she’s a little protective of me. They both did what they could to keep me from being a huntress because they didnt want me following in their footsteps, and the last time I told them anything about someone I liked, they made things… miserable.”
Velvet nodded and slowly made her way over to Ruby. “You do know that no matter how they feel about me, that’s not going to change how I feel about you, right?”
“I know. I still worry.”
“You dont need to. I’ll be by your side no matter what.”
Ruby started to relax as she felt Velvet kiss her cheek, her heart starting to slow for a moment. After her team fell apart, it did feel nice to have someone she could rely on. “I… thank you.”
Velvet smiled. “Then let’s invite them to dinner. If they want to meet me, then a home cooked meal will be perfect for that.”
Ruby nodded and picked up her scroll off the floor. “I’ll let them know.”

“I’ll get it!” Ruby yelled out from the kitchen as she rushed to the door in a flurry of petals. Her body practically vibrated in nervousness as she opened up the front door to the apartment. “Hey mom, dad. Come in.”
Summer gave her daughter a small smile and walked in. “Its a bit cozy, dont you think? Though, a bit small to start a family with.”
Ruby blushed a bit at the thought of kids with Velvet. “We uh… we only just graduated a couple years ago, so its not like we’re in a rush to start up anything. Besides, this place works for us.”
“We can tease them about this later,” Taiyang said as he put a hand on Summer’s shoulder. “For now, I think its time we meet our daughter’s girlfriend.”
“Dinner will be finished in just a bit.” Velvet brought over a couple plates to start setting the table. “Make yourself comfortable and I’ll be over in a bit.”
Summer nodded, watching Velvet as she sat down. Once the faunus was out of sight, she looked over to Ruby, her smile starting to fade. “Are you happy?”
Ruby slowly sat down. “Of course I am, why wouldnt I be?”
“Because I worry about you. You started dating her out of nowhere, you havent spoken to your teammates for months after Yang broke up with them… what will happen if things go south with her?”
“We’ll be fine.” Ruby smiled to hide her own nervousness, looking to the kitchen to watch her girlfriend. “She’s nice and cares about me. We help each other, we talk if we dont agree, we compromise… Velv and I will be fine.”
“Talking about me again?” Velvet sat down a carrot stew on the table along with some chicken and rolls. “I hope its good things.”
“Always Bunbun!” Ruby turned to look at her mother again. “We can rely on each other.”
Taiyang put a hand on Summer’s thigh. “Ruby’s always been fine. You know there’s nothing to worry about.”
Summer nodded and watched Velvet walk over to Ruby and kiss her while gently rubbing her ear. A nervous smile started to cross her lips as everyone started to make their way to the table for dinner. “Its what she might get dragged into I’m worried about.”
