"Poetry Woman"

It's the time of the season for cherry blossoms to fall all around you

It's like the feeling you get from reading an old fashioned love poem

You're like the wind when it blows through the blinds

Poetry woman

take some time every once in a while and think about me

sleeping in peace at night

writing about how I feel after seeing you in the limelight

Your presence is felt

even though you are so far away

And then there is the feeling that comes over me when I think of your beautiful brown eyes

So lonely

is where I am

night after night

Feeling all right

After and before

in the spring day

Loneliness is an age old cry

Desi daze is what you give

and the power is fully on

Feeling satisfied

you look wonderful

And there is a spark of emotion in your beautiful brown eyes

i was a rose and you plucked me from the garden

it was only a matter of time before i began to wilt // (cc 2017)

last week (following an impassioned rant) a student grabbed this from her locker and insisted i borrow it. it has served to reinforce the things i am coming to understand about myself and the universe. “nothing even matters except love and human connection.” thank you rupi kaur.

Rupi's sunshine

She has her own special way

The things she does helps to take my pain away

And in the early morning

there is a shine

in her beautiful brown eyes

She's so heavy

Loving her comes easy to me

And you know that it should

You fix what's wrong

You make the audience that you choose feel like they belong

all because of your poetry

You have made your choice

And it feels right

No men and boys

She's so heavy

And you know that she brings a world of good

Shining down all around

And in the early morning

where you have decided to stay

you have made life better

all because of the things you do

When we first met

I am today

as I was then

A writer from the underground

In through the outdoor

in a restaurant that I love

In a dining room with the writer of "The Sun And Her Flowers"

And there I was

And her presence

means a lot of different things

to many different people

It all depends on you

You know it's true

Her nail polish dry on the hands that write

so beautifully with such a punch

And all that she does is so nice

You only live once

And to be in the presence of someone of her magnitude

was awe inspiring

I won't lie

A woman who lives in freedom

Far and near

And without fear

She didn't lead me on

I was given the gift to write as a child

A child who became strong

who grew into a man who believes in love

And the power of cupid's arrow when it does fly...

She's gone

And for some time now

She was just a poetess

Her poetry will forever remain in my memory and how
